$15 Million gift from The Frank and Denise Quattrone Foundation to The University of Pennsylvania Law School. The gift will be used to establish the Quattrone Center for the Fair Administration of Justice, a national research and policy hub created to catalyze long-term structural improvements to the US criminal justice system. $3.7 Million gift in grants from the Charles Stewart Mott Foundation to the institutions of the Flint Cultural Center. The grants will support the core programming and day-to-day operations of those institutions, and enable them to offer more free and low-cost activities, expand their efforts to work with local schools, and host more community events. Other Major Gifts
St. Baldrick's Foundation, which funds more childhood cancer research than any organization except the U.S. government, have announced 63 grants in 17 countries totaling over $22 million. (St. Baldrick's Foundation).

Montana State University's ecologist Dan Gustafson donated more than 1 million specimens, books, scientific papers, field notes and photos to the Montana Entomology Collection. The donation is the largest single gift the Montana Entomology Collection has ever received. (Montana State University, July 22, 2013).
Broadview Mortgage, a new partner of the ABCUSD Education Foundation, has committed to sponsoring the ABC Unified School District's Primary Intervention Program to ensure all elementary schools in the district receive this service. The University of Louisville has set a new annual fundraising record for itself, recording $162 million in private donations in the last year. This marks a 12% increase over the prior year. (Kentucky.com, July 21, 2013).
The Children's Museum of Eau Claire has exceeded its goal of raising $500,000. The fundraiser is to develop new exhibits on the second floor of its building in downtown Eau Claire. (WQOW.com, July 23, 2013).
The campaign to save Las Vegas' aging Huntridge Theater reached its initial fundraising goal of $150,000. The money raised would be the capital needed to acquire and renovate the concert performing arts venue. (Fox 5 Vegas, July 22. 2013).
Frank Flannery, Chairman of the Forum on Philanthropy, acknowledges there is a "hold your nose" aspect to a proposal aimed at encouraging Irish tax exiles to invest in charities and small business. The Government would have to be innovative if targets for raising funding from philanthropy were going to be achieved and not ignoring the 400 or so Irish tax exiles who had so much money.
