October 2014 - Q4
Businesses of all sizes use email marketing to communicate with their customers.  This mode of advertising is popular across all industries for a number of reasons.  In this newsletter, we want to highlight what we see as the top 5 benefits of email marketing.

Top 5 Benefits of Email Marketing:

  1. Low cost - Email marketing can be done at a lower cost compared to mainstream marketing and advertising.  You don't need to pay for printing, postage or advertising rates.  It can be done at very low overhead cost.  Simply subscribe to email marketing software, such as Constant Contact and begin sending campaigns!
  2. Target fans of your brand - With the introduction of CASL in July, this is especially true. Permission-based email marketing is the best route to developing long-lasting customer relationships and will provide the best campaign results.  Businesses utilizing email marketing only send messages to those who have signed up to receive them.   It allows you to build one-on-one relationships with current and potential customers.  Targeting fans of your brand allows for higher conversion rates as a business is only targeting those who already have an interest in their business.  It also builds brand awareness and keeps you top of mind with customers and prospects.
  3. More frequent communications - Since email takes less time to create and send than other marketing and advertising channels do, you can communicate with your customers more frequently.  However, it is important to note, email marketing best practices suggest not sending emails more than once a week.
  4. Easy to share - When was the last time you saw a customer hand over a postal mailing they received to a friend who might be interested?  However, with email, subscribers can forward deals, offers and news to their friends and colleagues with a click of a button.   It also allows these potential customers to subscribe - allowing you to get your brand out to more people!
  5. Easy to track - What good is your marketing effort if you cannot track the results?  Most email marketing software will allow you to track opens, bounces, clicks, forwards, etc.  This type of info allows you to see which campaigns yielded the best results.  Perhaps adding a video gave you more opens?  It also allows for follow-up - if a particular subscriber clicks on a White Paper it gives you some insight that there may be some interest and you can follow-up.
