The Gulf Coast Association of REALTORS® Board of Directors would like to thank all of our members who have participated in the GCAR Top Producer Awards Program in the past. It has been a great program for self-promotion of individual sales production, and each individual award winner should feel proud of all the accomplishments they have earned.
As we move forward, now, more than ever, REALTORS® continue to face challenges from outside non-REALTOR® businesses, such as Zillow, that create competition for the consumer of real estate.
In 2014, to help counter these challenges and to have all associations work towards a singular goal, the National Association of REALTORS® introduced Core Standards. These Core Standards are intended to bring the local associations together, with a focus on professionalism, community outreach, and advocacy for personal property rights, ultimately keeping the REALTOR® brand relative.
To align ourselves with the National Association of REALTORS®, the Board of Directors has made the decision to discontinue the Top Producer Awards Program and concentrate on recognizing our members for their hard work in other areas. In 2018, the association will work hard to promote our members who are doing work in the community and their activities, and also to develop a Community Champion type award that gives recognition to those members who serve and give back to the community, promote the REALTOR® brand, and are a voice for real estate in the local government.
