  1. The Setting - Cuyahoga Valley National Park - in the fall.  The colors.  The terrain.  You run in the woods along the Cuyahoga River.  You encounter nature at its best - from turtles and frogs to cranes and perhaps an eagle.
  2. The Course - The running surface is largely a crushed limestone - it is "easy on the joints."  Most runners remark that their legs are still fresh after the race.
  3. The Course AGAIN - it's FLAT - very flat.  Many runners have posted PRs in this race.
  4. Boston Marathon - It's a qualifier.
  5. The Post-Race Party.  There's something for everyone - small kids have an inflatable slide.  Cats on Holiday help us rock out the morning/ early afternoon.  We have Great Lakes brews.
  6. Runners Perks - the finisher medal, the tech tee, the music, the food, the beer ($4/ glass), the foot massages, the full body massages (tips are appreciated)
  7. The Volunteers - usually top out near 300 for this race.
  8. The Comradery - The course design - bowtie - allows runners to support each other during the course of the race.
  9. The Top Finishers Award - forget the statues - we provide winners with a memorable photograph of the Cuyahoga Valley National Park, taken by professional photographers - matted and ready to frame.
  10. The Cause - The fees and revenues underwrite the goals and programs associated with the development of the Ohio & Erie Canalway National Heritage Area, including the extension of the Towpath Trail into downtown Cleveland.
Take it away Paul!
