Tracy Aviary Breaks Ground on New Entrance
New Education and Guest Services Building Coming 2012 |
|

Salt Lake City, Utah - Major changes are coming soon to an Aviary near you. By mid-February, construction crews will begin demolishing Tracy Aviary's entrance building. This structure is a retrofitted garage that has never worked particularly well as a guest services facility. Taking its place will be a stunning new education and guest services building funded by Tracy Aviary's 2008 bond. Clad with a façade of beautifully patterned steel panels, the building will include classroom space, office areas, and a gift shop and ticketing area. The project is off to a great start, having recently received a design award from the Utah Chapter of the American Institute of Architects before a single shovel has touched the ground!
Construction should run through most of 2011, but Tracy Aviary will be open for business as usual. During the construction period, visitors will enter through a temporary entrance located at the northwest corner, just off the main road that runs around Liberty Park. Tracy Aviary's parking lot will be unaffected, and access should be as easy and convenient as it's always been.
Paul Svendsen, Construction Manager at Tracy Aviary, proclaimed, "It's a great time for not only Tracy Aviary, but also for our guests. It's a fantastic time to check out our wonderful birds as well as our exciting construction projects."
