NEW DELHI, India - Last week, U.S. Trade and Development Agency staff advanced the Agency's strategic partnerships in India during the India Smart Grid Week (ISGW) 2016 conference and exhibition, as well as India Aviation 2016.

"We were pleased to join our partners for these important events, where we identified specific opportunities for future cooperation," said Regional Director for South and Southeast Asia, Henry Steingass, who represented the Agency.  "Smart grid and intelligent transportation solutions are key enablers of India's infrastructure growth, and will serve as catalysts for the development of India's smart cities."

 
    
March 30, 2016: APEC Air Traffic Management & Air Traffic Control Workshop  
Location: Manila, Philippines

USTDA is hosting a workshop to facilitate the exchange of best practices and technologies for reducing aviation emissions and fuel consumption, as well as for improving the efficiency of airline operations.  The workshop will connect U.S. companies to key decision makers from several Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) economies to discuss how advanced air traffic management (ATM) and air traffic control (ATC) solutions can support these efforts.

April 11-15, 2016: Brazil Transmission Modernization RTM
Locations:
Washington, D.C.; Atlanta, GA

USTDA will host a Transmission Modernization Reverse Trade Mission (RTM) as a part of the Brazil: Clean Energy Exchange Program Phase II.  The delegation includes twelve senior public and private sector officials from Brazil who seek to modernize their electricity transmission infrastructure, including the use of phasor measurement units, by understanding U.S. best practices and technologies.  Brazil has 126,000km of transmission lines and by the year 2024, the Brazilian Ministry of Mines and Energy expects this network to grow by 59% in the extension and 62% in capacity.
 

As part of the Brazil Transmission Modernization RTM, there will be a half-day Business Briefing at the USTDA Business Center in Arlington, Virginia on April 11, 2016. This Business Briefing will provide a forum for the delegates to share information with U.S. companies on their needs, upcoming procurements and plans for electricity transmission technology in Brazil.

USTDA is hosting a study tour on Judicial Protection of Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) for officials from the Chinese Ministry of Commerce and Chinese judiciaries. The study tour will introduce the delegates to the U.S. system of intellectual property protection, with a specific focus on the judicial enforcement of IPR. Participants will tour U.S. courts and meet with U.S. industry representatives to discuss opportunities and challenges in protecting IPR. This study tour will include meetings in Washington, D.C. and Madison, WI. This study tour will be co-hosted with the U.S. Patent and Trade Office (PTO) and the Office of the U.S. Trade Representative (USTR). 

April 18 - 29, 2016: South Africa Energy Storage RTM
Locations: San Francisco, CA; Los Angeles, CA; Charlotte, NC; Washington, D.C.

USTDA is hosting a RTM to introduce high-level representatives from South Africa's energy sector to state-of-the-art U.S. technologies, equipment and services - as well as policies, regulations and financing mechanisms - that can support the implementation of energy storage projects in South Africa. The RTM will include a Business Briefing, participation in the Energy Storage Association's 26th Annual Conference and Expo, meetings with representatives from the U.S. energy storage industry, and site visits that demonstrate U.S. energy storage technologies and infrastructure. Delegates will include representatives from key public sector stakeholders, financiers, industry associations and private sector companies planning to implement energy storage projects.

April 21, 2016: South Africa Energy Storage Business Briefing
Location: Long Beach, CA

As part of the South Africa Energy Storage RTM, there will be a one-day Business Briefing on April 21, 2016. This Business Briefing will provide a forum for the delegates to share information with U.S. companies on their needs, upcoming procurements and plans for energy storage in South Africa. One-on-one meetings with U.S. companies will be arranged for the delegates.

April 24 - May 4, 2016: Global Energy Storage RTM
Locations: Charlotte, NC; San Francisco, CA; Sacramento, CA

USTDA will host a delegation of senior public and private sector officials from Brazil, Colombia, India, the Philippines, Turkey and Vietnam for a Global Energy Storage RTM. The RTM is designed to expose delegates to U.S. energy storage technologies and services - as well as policies, regulations and financing mechanisms - that can support the implementation of energy storage projects. The delegation will also attend the Energy Storage Association's  26th Annual Conference and Expo . One-on-one meetings with U.S. companies will be arranged for the delegates during the Conference.

April 24 - May 5, 2016:  East Africa Airport Modernization & Security RTM
Locations: Washington, D.C.; Miami, FL; Atlanta, GA

USTDA will host a delegation of senior public and private sector officials from Ethiopia, Kenya, Rwanda and Tanzania for an East Africa Airports Security and Modernization RTM. The RTM is designed to introduce delegates to U.S. technologies, service providers, operational best practices, financing products and training resources in the areas of airport development, operation and security. The RTM will address key themes of security and safety solutions, including risk assessment methodologies and best practices for cross-departmental coordination.

April 26, 2016: East Africa Airport Modernization & Security Business Briefing
Location: Arlington, VA

As part of the East Africa Airport Security and Modernization RTM, there will be a one-day Business Briefing at the USTDA Business Center in Arlington, VA on April 26, 2016. This Business Briefing will provide a forum for the delegates to share information with U.S. companies on their needs, upcoming procurements and plans for airport development in East Africa. One-on-one meetings with U.S. companies will be arranged for the delegates.

May 8 - 13, 2016: Brazil Distribution Automation RTM
Locations: Washington, D.C.; Atlanta, GA; Houston, TX

USTDA will host a Distribution Automation RTM as a part of the Brazil: Clean Energy Exchange Program Phase II.  The delegation includes twelve senior public and private sector officials from Brazil, who seek to modernize their distribution network infrastructure, including metering deployments, by understanding U.S. best practices and technologies.

May 9, 2016: Brazil Distribution Automation Business Briefing

As part of the Brazil Distribution Automation RTM, there will be a half-day Business Briefing at the USTDA Business Center in Arlington, Virginia on May 9, 2016. This Business Briefing will provide a forum for the delegates to share information with U.S. companies on their needs, upcoming procurements and plans for distribution network infrastructure in Brazil.

May 15 - 22, 2016: China Green Airport Construction RTM
Locations: Chicago, IL; Los Angeles, CA; Seattle, WA

USTDA will host a China Green Airport Construction RTM to connect U.S. industry with development opportunities overseas. The delegation consists of representatives from Chinese companies interested in procuring cutting-edge green construction equipment and waste recycling technologies from the U.S. for airport construction projects in China.  

June 19 - 21, 2016: 7th U.S. - China Aviation Summit
Location: Washington, D.C.

USTDA is pleased to host the 2016 U.S.-China Aviation Summit in Washington, D.C.  The Summit is an excellent opportunity for U.S. industry and government officials to engage China's senior aviation leaders in substantive discussions on aviation policies, technologies and best practices.  Key goals of this event include: identifying commercial opportunities for U.S. businesses, expanding U.S. trade opportunities and introducing U.S. technologies and best practices to China's growing aviation sector.
