As students prepare for another school year, the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) and the Destination Zero Deaths team of highway safety professionals encourage motorists, bicyclists and pedestrians to be safe and pay extra attention when traveling. Read more.

Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over on Labor Day
 
From August 16 to September 4, Louisiana transportation safety professionals and law enforcement officers will join forces to conduct the national high-visibility enforcement campaign, Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over. Coinciding with the Labor Day holiday weekend, this campaign hopes to remind everyone to make responsible and safe decisions when heading out to festivities during a holiday that's considered to be one of the deadliest times of the year in terms of drunk-driving fatalities.

Every day, 28 people die in an alcohol-related crash. This PSA reminds viewers that even a small amount of alcohol can affect their driving ability. If you're rolling down the windows for fresh air or turning down the radio to "focus" after you've been drinking, that's a warning sign that you're probably not okay to drive. LHSC unveils new interactive website,

The Louisiana Highway Safety Commission (LHSC) shares new tools and resources via its new interactive website. This new look not only highlights its vision of "Changing Behaviors, Saving Lives", it also features "Safety Stories",  information about highway safety grant opportunities,  traffic data, marketing and advertising resources, and links to various highway safety campaign toolkits. The commission also released its official publication called "Crossroads".

On behalf of Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development, the Louisiana Center for Transportation Safety extends this invitation to all transportation safety professionals from across multiple disciplines to attend the statewide Highway Safety Summit on November 14-15, 2017 at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Baton Rouge. This year's theme is "Destination Zero Deaths: One Vision, One Goal".
