Thanks to your support, the Ohio Capital Budget recently signed by Gov. Kasich includes $200,000 for repaving the worst sections of the Little Miami trail in Warren County. In addition, the budget appropriates another $350,000 for projects within the Little Miami State Park. These funds and projects will be directed by the Ohio Dept. of Natural Resources in the coming fiscal year. Your efforts make a difference!
Winter to Spring--in one day?

After a really cold start with snow on the ground and trees shivering in their storage bags, a courageous group of volunteers put in over 28 hours of work the weekend of April 7 successfully potting 231 native Ohio trees and shrubs. And that was just Saturday.

The dedication will provide an opportunity to tour the house built by Ahimaaz King, founder of King Powder Company and Peters Cartridge Company across the river, next to what is now our trail near Grandin Rd.
. . . to all the members for providing the Kubota tractor for the Friends. Over the winter we used it to remove honeysuckle, to widen the trail, and to clear mud from the trail and the ditch lines after heavy rains. We also used it to remove a dead deer from along the trail. This spring we are looking forward to keeping the weeds down so everyone can enjoy the trail. Happy spring! - Bruce Cortright

In Memoriam
Last week our community lost a pioneer and champion of the beautiful river that follows our trail. Bob Morgan led the effort that saw the Little Miami become one of the first nationally designated scenic rivers in the country. “His broad paddle created currents and ripples through thousands of lives,” said his son Dirk Morgan, proprietor of the Morgan’s Canoe Livery and FLMSP volunteer. “His legacy lives on through us and all that enjoy the rivers he helped protect.”
