Season of Giving: How Do You Give Back? |
It's the time of year when many people think of giving to causes and organizations they support, both financially and with their time. At Deschutes Public Library, we have a Foundation, numerous Friends organizations, and volunteers that are integral parts of making library magic happen every day.
- Your gift to the Deschutes Public Library Foundation provides sustainable services and programs, including free cultural and author programs, outreach to under-served children and seniors, and early literacy programs. You can make your donation here.
- All of our libraries are supported by the essential work of a corps of volunteers. If you have an hour or two a week to spare, and you can commit to at least 4-6 months, Deschutes Public Library can put you to work at your local library. Learn more about volunteering here.

All Aboard! Train Man Returns this Month |
Michael Lavrich, better known as the Train Man, returns to the Downtown Bend Library to share his extensive collection of model trains. All ages are invited to watch and listen, as the trains chug and whistle their way around the tracks. Lavrich's collection represents running trains of the 1920s and '30s and are made by Lionel, Dorfan, Ives, and American Flyer. Trains will run December 17-21, but be sure to check here for exact times that trains are running. Our gratitude to the Train Man for making this a beloved tradition for so many children and children-at-heart in Central Oregon.
