Trans-Pacific Partnership Business Roundtable
July 3, 2012
9:30-1:30pm
The Trans-Pacific Partnership is the trade and competitiveness focal point for the United States and its hemispheric allies. With the stalemate of the Doha Round of WTO talks, the TPP will profoundly affect the economic and security relations of Pacific Rim Nations.
Negotiations among the nine TPP partners are advancing quickly and cover important trade issues such as expanded intellectual property protections, e-commerce, supply chains and trade facilitation, labor and environment disciplines, investment protections and state-owned enterprises. The vision of the TPP includes not only the nine TPP countries at the table, but also other Asia Pacific nations that can meet the high standards and comprehensive objectives. Such an Asia-Pacific wide agreement could one day cover nearly half of global exports and over half of global GDP.
The next round of TPP negotiations is taking place in San Diego from July 2-10. In order to benefit from market access gains in Asia Pacific, businesses must be prepared. The Institute of the Americas TPP Business Roundtable on the margins of the San Diego Round will provide important updates on TPP progress and prospects.
If your company is interested in being a sponsor of the roundtable, you would receive public recognition, additional networking opportunities, and other benefits. If this is of interest, please contact Sherry White at for a list of opportunities and benefits.
