Transformation & Commitment

Cincinnati Metropolitan Housing Authority is committed to providing access to affordable and decent housing for everyone in need of it. Our American Heroes deserve support and with that being said we have special vouchers for them through the HUD-VASH (Veterans Affairs Supportive Housing) Program. Further funding for this program was approved so CMHA can now assist 385 Veterans and their families through HUD-VASH. The program effectively helps end homelessness among veterans by helping them obtain housing in the private market while receiving supportive services from the Cincinnati VA Medical Center. Through this partnership we have been able to serve more than a 1000 veteran families. In addition, CMHA is participating in the 45 Day Challenge. The goal is to house 45 homeless Veterans in 45 days. The 45 Day Challenge began May 1st and ends June 15th. The challenge pairs well with the Mayor's Challenge to officially end Veteran homelessness in Cincinnati. Please click here to view our video about the HUD-VASH program.

One of the agency's Strategic Plan goals is to be more efficiently and fiscally responsible. We are in the beginning stages of transitioning to the Yardi Voyager system. The new system will allow CMHA to consolidate three applications into one, and manage all the program areas (Asset Management, HCV, Affordable Housing and RAD) as well as financials and purchasing into one cloud-based application. The transformation will begin with CMHA staff and Yardi staff working together to create the implementation plan. Once the transition is complete, the centralized data will help increase accuracy and save time because information will be easily accessible in a single database. Please keep in mind, the conversion will take place over several months and project details will be updated often.

The partnerships CMHA secures with various agencies and businesses help reduce barriers and increase knowledge for everyone the agency serves. Over the next few weeks we will work with the Cincinnati Fire Department to provide training for residents and staff. In addition, the summer cookouts kick-off June 15 at Winton Terrace. More details about the events can be found in the stories below. Keep in mind, you can always share information with us by calling our Talk 2 Us Hotline, (513) 721-CMHA or on our social media channels.

Kind Regards,

Firesafety    Safety Preparation
There has been an unusual amount of residential fires over the past few months. In an effort to better prepare residents and employees for a fire emergency Cincinnati Metropolitan Housing Authority partnered with the Cincinnati Fire Department for special training. Fire safety education classes will be held at several CMHA sites during June and July. The training will help everyone pre-plan in case a fire erupts. Some of things expected to be included are the best escape method, what to do when the alarm sounds and when residents of high-rise buildings should vacate the site or when they should "shelter in place". Cincinnati Fire Department will also provide handouts for people who attend. Each site that participates in the training will also go through a fire drill. Look for updates on the Fire Education & Safety classes on CMHA social media and website.

CMHA provides a positive and thorough connection between agencies, residents and the community at large. Just recently the agency hosted the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) in the Cincinnati Contemporary Learning Center. HUD Labor Relations Specialist Deborah Diaz provided training on Davis Bacon and the Related Acts (DBRA). DBRA applies to contractors and subcontractors who work on federally funded or assisted contracts exceeding $2000 for the construction, alteration, or repair of public buildings or public works. Eight CMHA employees along with employees from six other public housing agencies attended the training. Participants gained lots of knowledge that will ensure they are being good stewards of public dollars and that construction workers are receiving fare wages.
