Mixed Match Movie, underwritten by a grant recently extended from our Board of Directors,
was a heartwarming and beautifully told story on Saturday, April 29 at the Garl
and Theatre

This film by Jeff Chiba Stearns tells the story of the challenges that mixed race individuals can have when finding bone marrow donor matches.  We feel blessed to have helped tell this story in our community and invite you to do two things: view the movie trailer here and learn how to become a bone marrow donor!
Continuing Education

The Jean Merrill Education Fund provides educational training to Inland Northwest Blood Center staff for managerial, supervisory and leadership opportunities.  Recently, the committee awarded its first INBC Employee Continuing Education ScholarshipAhmed Abdelshafy, Donor Services Specialist, will receive tuition reimbursement support so he may complete U.S. certification for his medical school residency as a vascular surgeon; he was a vascular surgeon in Egypt prior to relocating to the United States.  Congratulations, Ahmed!

Transitions

Our small Foundation staff family expanded by one in January when Development Coordinator, Haley Rippee, and husband welcomed their first child.  Haley's goal of part-time work and love of Epicurean Delight have led to a new role with the Inland Northwest Blood
Center as Special Event Coordinator.  She has done a fine job organizing party details the past three years and you will hear from her about the 2017 event, scheduled for Friday, November 10 at the Spokane Convention Center.

I will continue developing planned giving partnerships on behalf of the Blood Center Foundation of the Inland Northwest and hope to work with you in the future.  If continuing your commitment to blood banking and transfusion medicine is a goal as you plan your estate and future legacy, please let me know.  There are many ways we can work together to honor your loved ones.

Happy Spring!
