What's Happenin' at Shiisa Quilts?
Greetings!
Another month almost gone!! Pretty soon I won't have to worry about whether I can remember to write 2010 on my checks -- because then I'll have to remember to write 2011! YIKES!
- Gearing up for our Groovy Girls Sewing Club -- Our Groovies, Lisa and Bev, are busy busy busy getting ready to WOW you with samples and demos, games, prizes, and snacks!! Sign up with a friend... bring your favorite grandkid (or grandmother!)
Congratulations to Susie G, winner of our AccuQuilt Go! Cutter plus three dies of her choice! How did Susie get so lucky? She just visited our blog, read Lisa's tutorial, and left a comment! It really was that easy! Even though the giveaway is over, the tutorial is still there -- and it's a great idea (with or without the applique) for a quick and easy holiday gift -- or a great way to decorate your own holiday table.
Thanks to Ann Pigneri's McTavishing class, we now have an avid group of McShiisa-ing quilters... I can't wait to see what new design elements they create in their free-motion quilting! We're talking with Ann about a 2-day quilt design class in the spring or early summer. If you're interested in something like that, send us an email so we can put you on an interest list. We have to decide on days that will work for people -- so give us some feedback if you're interested!
Check out Caryl Shuetz's Design a T-Shirt Quilt class in November, too! What a great gift idea for a graduating senior... or your favorite runner (what else are they going to do with all of those shirts???)
Coming in early November -- our sample for our 2011 Second Saturday Sampler will be ready for unveiling!! Everything is finished but the binding -- and we think you're going to love it!! Twelve months... twelve twelve-inch blocks... and the finishing kit turns that into a queen-sized bed quilt! Two color-ways will be available. This SSS is a "developmental" program -- we start with fairly simple blocks and provide a good tutorial.... and by the time we get to month 12, we'll be challenging your new-found skills! Registration will begin by mid-November. For our non-local customers, SSS will also be available as a traditional block-of-the-month starting in the spring!
We needed to make room for new fabric on the color wall so we moved more fabric to the Value Fabric racks - at 50% off!! Don't tell Bonnie, but her favorite bunnies are there....

November 26 & 27 As we head into the pre-holiday season, we've found that most of our customers don't have time for classes, so we're using this time to get classes scheduled for January and beyond.... if you have some ideas for classes you'd like to see just send us and email and let us know! Update on Mary Buvia Classes - Mary's classes are "on hold" while Bob is receiving medical treatment. Please keep them both in your thoughts and prayers. When we get a class scheduled, we will call people in order of their getting on the waiting list. Mary's classes are limited to 10 students, so get on the list early!
