Richard Ray: Director of Missions - Weekly Update
This past week, we have stayed busy preparing for the Annual Meeting of Churches on Sunday, October 15 at FBC Hamilton. Don't forget to register your messengers, if you haven't already, and the amount of church members who will be attending the Fellowship Meal. Register by calling your Area Office at 254-865-1299 or online at . Please turn in your Annual Church Profile (ACP) as soon as possible. We are also looking for a Church Youth Group to help serve the Annual Meeting Meal.
I am seeking Workers and Equipment Operators to volunteer at the newly purchased Tri-Rivers Retreat Center on Saturday, October 14th to get the facility up and running. To volunteer and to see the complete list of needs contact your Area Office or register online at .
This past Sunday, I was honored to be the guest preacher for the 139-year Church Anniversary Celebration of Duffau Baptist Church. It was a wonderful day to remember all that God has done and continues to do through this amazing church. Sunday Evening, we hosted a "Know Your Rights" event to address the ministry needs of undocumented immigrants. Israel Loachamin, Director of La Puerta Waco led the discussion and provided valuable information for all those who attended.
As always, please take a moment and scroll down this newsletter to view opportunities in ministry within our Tri-Rivers Area. Until next week, "A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another." - John 13:34

Warts and All

Chuckle: A man went to the bank and asked to see the man who arranges loans. "I'm sorry, sir," said the cashier, "the loan arranger is out to lunch." "Then," asked the man, "can I please speak to Tonto?"
Quote: "Spread your arms to those with needs, And serve with joy and zest; Fill each day with golden deeds, And give your very best."  --William A. Ward
"Therefore he is able to save completely (all) those who come to God through him, because he always lives to intercede for them" (Hebrews 7:25 NIV).
I once read about a British nobleman who sat to have his formal portrait painted. After it was finished, he saw a most remarkable likeness. But instead of complimenting the artist, he said, "you didn't paint the wart!" The artist responded, "But, sir, I think you are more attractive without it. Don't you think so?" The nobleman answered, "Paint me as I am -- wart and all!"
Aren't you thankful that you are precious and beautiful in the eyes of God, even with all the imperfections (warts) that sin has imprinted upon your heart and life. As did the nobleman, recognizing and accepting our faults (warts) and imperfections gives evidence of a certain level of maturity before God. But God's grace is sufficient to save even the most sinful and unattractive wart-covered reprobate among us; and it is only after we begin to see ourselves in such a hopeless condition that God is able to work His miracle of grace in our lives. After you have experienced God's grace even with your "warts and all," you are now much more willing to accept, overlook, and forgive imperfections in others.

Are you in need of Celebrate Recovery?

Celebrate Recovery is a Christ-centered program with foundations firmly established in Biblical truth. The 12 Steps with accompanying Scriptures and the 8 Principles based on the Beatitudes offer participants a clear path of salvation and discipleship; bringing hope, freedom, sobriety, healing, and the opportunity to give back one day at a time through our one and only true Higher Power, Jesus Christ.  The 12 Steps and the 8 Principles work seamlessly together, tying historical recovery to timeless Biblical teaching.
