Richard Ray: Director of Missions - Weekly Update

I want to encourage each of you to attend the Tri-Rivers Retreat Center Open House and Dedication on Saturday, April 21 from 10 am - 1 pm. This will be a wonderful time for you to visit and learn how the Lord is using and will be using the Retreat Center to further the Kingdom of God. We are blessed to have former DOM Jerry Stratton share the Word of God as we dedicate the Tri-Rivers Retreat Center to the Lord. We will also be providing an appreciation luncheon for all who attend. Please RSVP to your Area Office at 254-865-1299 or if you plan to attend. I hope to see you all there as it will be a special day.
This past Sunday, I was blessed to preach at Littleville Baptist Church in Hamilton. This is such a sweet church with a giving and loving Spirit that love to share the love of Christ with others. Last Saturday, I had a wonderful time at the Pinewood Derby hosted by Clear Creek Baptist Church. It was a joy to see all the children in God's House having a wonderful time while also hearing the message of God's Love.
This week, I will be spending time with Area Pastors at various ministry events (see this newsletter for dates and times). This weekend, the Tri-Rivers Retreat Center will be hosting the Hico DNOW. This Sunday, I am looking forward to attending and singing at the Lampasas Association Annual Music Festival hosted by School Creek Baptist Church.
Mark your Calendar: Retreat Center Appreciation and Open House - April 21, (Attention Golfers) Area Golf Tournament - April 30 and Women's Conference - May 5. Please scroll down this newsletter to sign-up, information and more.
The pre-registration link to the Tri-Rivers Pre-Teen and Youth Camps is live and space is limited. You will find the pre-registration links in this newsletter.
Please continue to review this newsletter for more news and updates.
Until next week, ""The legacy we leave is not just in our possessions, but in the quality of our lives. The greatest waste in all of our earth, which cannot be recycled or reclaimed, is our waste of the time that God has given us each day." - Billy Graham

Raising Good Adults

Chuckle: A sign on a country road -- "WHEN THIS SIGN IS UNDER WATER, THIS ROAD IS CLOSED!"
Good Quote: "Who our ancestors were is not nearly as important as the kind of ancestors we shall someday be."--William Arthur Ward
"And now a word to you fathers (and mothers). Don't make your children angry by the way you treat them. Rather, bring them up with the discipline and instruction approved by the Lord" (Ephesians 6:4 NLT). "Likewise, teach the older women to be reverent in the way they live, . . . Then they can train the younger women to love their husbands and children, to be self-controlled and pure, . . . Similarly, encourage young men to be self-controlled. In everything set them an example by doing what is good" (Titus 2:3-7 NIV).
I once read an article in Better Homes and Gardens by Jack Croft. He makes the case that in the past decades parents have focused on building self-esteem in their children to make them happy and well adjusted. However, many older parents and grandparents have been concerned that over emphasis on "building self-esteem" has resulted in less discipline, more permissiveness, and the creation of selfish spoiled children. This article validates those concerns.

The 21 st Century church faces challenges which were unknown at the turn of the century. If your church has not, or is not prepared to address the issues unique to young Millennials and

Are you in need of Celebrate Recovery?

Celebrate Recovery is a Christ-centered program with foundations firmly established in Biblical truth. The 12 Steps with accompanying Scriptures and the 8 Principles based on the Beatitudes offer participants a clear path of salvation and discipleship; bringing hope, freedom, sobriety, healing, and the opportunity to give back one day at a time through our one and only true Higher Power, Jesus Christ.  The 12 Steps and the 8 Principles work seamlessly together, tying historical recovery to timeless Biblical teaching.
