Greetings Blazeman Warriors,
Friends and Family,

bob and mary ann at kona
We have come to appreciate that triathletes, like many of you, are amazing individuals. For nearly a decade, Bob and I watched so many of you train for months among friends but come race day you're out there by yourself. You don't have a coach calling plays from the booth, or a relief runner that can switch places with you as you grow weary. Whether you compete in a Sprint, Olympic or Ironman®, the glory is for you and you alone.

But the Blazeman Foundation was founded as a place we can come together as a team and accomplish more together than we can as individuals. Or maybe a better word is, "community." Take pride in all that we've accomplished together:
  • Your continued support of the Blazeman Foundation for ALS has enabled us to commit more than $2 million to cutting edge ALS research.
  • Jon's foundation has established an account to support pALS in the community either directly or through other ALS nonprofits that focus totally on assisting pALS. Though not our main mission we have seen a need to do this...caring for those until a cure is found.
After decades with no effective treatment, the Blazeman Foundation for ALS is proud to have been a catalyst for this increased attention to ALS research and we will continue aggressive efforts until new therapies are brought to market.

All of this we accomplished because we worked together. This was so much more than any of us could do alone. With your support, we can continue our commitment to promising research projects that no one else is working on. Because research is the only weapon we have in our WARonALS. And we can win this fight-as a team.

We are so proud of what you've accomplished on the course as an individual and look forward to having you on the Foundation's team again next season. Until then, have a safe a happy holiday season.

With gratitude,

Mary Ann and Bob Blais
Jon's mom and dad

P.S.  And now there are two ways you can show your support. A portion of your holiday gift purchases from Amazon will go to the Blazeman Foundation. Or you can click here to make your traditional donation now!

On May 2, 2005, twenty-year Multi-Sport veteran Jon Blais a.k.a. "Blazeman" at age 33 was diagnosed with the fatal motor neuron disease ALS (Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis). Blazeman dubbed himself the "ALS Warrior Poet" and brought his battle to the big island of Hawaii on October 15th that year, where he became the first person with ALS to complete the Ironman World Championships. It was his last race. In 2006, a number of athletes, inspired by Jon's 2005 efforts, rolled across the finish line in Hawaii in honor of Jon and his battle against ALS. In 2007, the Blazeman Foundation for ALS expanded Team Blazeman, comprised of "Blazeman Warriors" who have committed to raising awareness and funding a search for a cure for ALS..."So  Others May Live."
