Cleveland Police Foundation Offers Safety Tips for Tonight's Trick-or-Treat

The official hours for Trick-or-Treat in the City of Cleveland are from 6 to 8 p.m. tonight! To keep our neighborhood kids safe on the streets and on the sidewalks, the Cleveland Police Foundation put together a list of things to do as parents and drivers on Halloween evening. For example, have your costume wearers carry a light stick or flashlight to see their way around and to be seen by others. If driving between the hours of 5:30 and 9:30 p.m., be extra careful and alert for children who in their excitement may dash out into the street from between parked cars. Click here for excellent tips. For a list of official Trick-or-Treat hours here and in surrounding communities, click here.

Seasonal Leaf Pick-up Begins in Designated Areas

Check out the map here to see whether your street is one of those designated for leaf pick up. This service starts on Thursday, November 6 and ends December 31. Residents will see City of Cleveland workers and eight leaf vacuum vehicles in use during the pick-up process.

Signs will be posted one week prior to service. To streamline the process, residents are encouraged to rake leaves from their property onto the tree lawns, not into the street. To accommodate city crews, residents are asked to park off-street, during the service period. Each area will be serviced at least twice during the eight-week period, weather permitting. Leaves will be transported to the approved leaf compost site, diverting more than 2,000 tons of leaf material from the waste stream. For more information, click here.
