Weekly Trinity Newsletter
January 5, 2020
Happy New Year! We look forward to welcoming our Blazers back to school! Classes will resume on Tuesday, January 7th and we will be on a LATE START schedule.
Time to Order Your Books for Block 3 & 4
It’s hard to believe that Block 2 is almost over and your daughter will be starting her Block 3 classes in a couple weeks! We would like to take this opportunity to urge you, if you have not already done so, to order textbooks for Block 3 now to ensure that students receive their books before the first day of Block 3, January 21, 2020. Please do not hesitate to contact us for assistance in this process. We expect students to have their textbooks by the first day of the new block. Click here for a letter with more information.
From the Dean’s Office: Attendance Policy Reminder
Early dismissals are strongly discouraged. However, if a student must have an early dismissal, parents/guardians must email ( [email protected] ) or send a signed note to the Main Office at the beginning of the school day citing the reason for the early dismissal request and time of departure.  We request ample notification so that we are able to issue passes to students to present to their teachers for dismissal. We issue passes to insure as little interruption to class as possible. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.

Parents are strongly encouraged and students are required to attend this meeting focused on the college search and application process. We’ll discuss the college planning timeline; roles and responsibilities of the counselor, student, and parent; important factors in admissions decisions; helpful resources including Naviance- our online college planning platform; and paying for college.  Students and parents may attend one of two meeting times: 8:00-9:15 a.m. or 7:00-8:15 p.m. in the Auditorium.

Although summer seems very far away, it's not too early for students to start thinking about how they'll spend their time over summer break. Trinity has a robust listing of summer enrichment opportunities including: pre-college courses; writing, medical, and engineering camps; leadership symposiums; study abroad opportunities; summer jobs; and internships. Check out the  Summer Enrichment Opportunities  website (information is added and updated as we receive it). Application deadlines begin in January.

As part of the course, each student will also sit for two full-length practice tests plus the diagnostic exam. These were scheduled with the school at intervals deemed to best fit within the school calendar. In the News ~ 2020
As of January 1, 2020, Illinois allows recreational use of marijuana as Governor J.B. Pritzker signed the Cannabis Regulation and Tax Act. The law allows individuals 21 years of age or older the ability to possess, use, and purchase cannabis for recreational use.  As such, possession, usage, selling and distribution for those under 21 remains illegal.  Trinity's Substance Abuse Policy, which will remain in effect, states the following: "I. The selling or distribution of illegal drugs is grounds for immediate dismissal.; II. Any student in possession of, or under the influence of drugs or alcohol during the school day or at school-sponsored activities, on or off campus, will be suspended. Reinstatement is dependent upon fulfillment of stated requirements listed in the policy." For further review, please consult the 2019-2020 Trinity Handbook (Drugs & Alcohol p13, item 16; Smoking/Vaping p16; Substance Abuse Policy p17). We are counting on you to be our partners in reinforcing the importance of a substance-free lifestyle for our students.
