Foundations
Session # 6 of "Foundations" takes place this Saturday at 4 PM in the Fellowship Hall! It's going to be a packed agenda. We will go to Mt. Sinai and tremble in the presence of God as the Lord gives His commandments to us. Jesus said "Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets. I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them. For truly, I say to you, until heaven and earth pass away, not an iota, not a dot, will pass from the Law until it is all accomplished" (Matthew 5:17-18). It is significant that these remarks of Jesus are a part of "The Sermon on the Mount."

Then in that same "Sermon" Jesus teaches us to pray! As an answer from the disciples that Jesus teaches them to pray, the Lord gives us the Prayer of prayers. "Our Father who art in heaven..." this wonder of a prayer is a key to an understanding of the purpose of prayer.

I am so looking forward to this Saturday's Foundation gathering. What a joy it has been.
Bring your bibles and your copy of the Catechism. Get ready to be amazed!  I am looking forward to it. Consider joining in for this last "Foundation Gathering!"
I hear that special refreshments will be offered as well!

The Prayer Vigil Continues
It was a beautiful experience as we gathered last Saturday for prayer. There were about 35 of us. In smaller groups we gathered and the prayers went out and up to the throne of our Heavenly Father! One comment: "We came to ask God for certain things but instead we thanked Him for all things!" Afterwards we spent a few moments reflecting on our prayer experience. It was as powerful as it was beautiful.

Thanks to the ministry of our Elders we will have opportunities for prayer the Tuesday and the following Monday, February 21 and 27. Details will be shared this Sunday. I urge you to participate.

Trinity Resurrection
Thanks for the continuing response to this opportunity. It is "low key" but so very important for us to come forward and assist our beloved Trinity. More information will be forthcoming. In the meantime please prayerfully consider a special offering to alleviate our financial needs.

Worship this weekend
We are grateful for Rev. Larry Schaefer as he leads our worship services this weekend.  The Schaefer's bless us with their presence! (Pastor Z and Jackie are visiting family on Sunday.)

Trinity Family News

SeniorPastor Call Process Update
Trinity family, we begin again with open nominations for a Senior Pastor for 30-days while FL-GA District President, Rev. Greg Walton, works on putting together a new call list. You will find nomination forms in the Narthex.  Please continue to keep this process in your prayers.

A Call To Prayer
Your Elders Ministry Team will hold prayer services in the Sanctuary on February 21st and February 27th from 5:30 to 7:30 pm.  There will be a short devotional, a time for prayer with the Elders, and quiet time for personal prayer.  Come whenever you can and stay as long as you wish. Daily reminders to pray will go out early in the morning on Facebook each day this month and you are welcome to share your own prayer requests in comments and show you're praying for others who have posted by "liking" their prayer request comment. Trinity is facing two important issues we'd like to ask you to include in your prayers: the call of a Senior Pastor and a serious financial situation; and as always, we join together in prayer to cover the petitions of our entire Trinity family and those we're connected to in addition to those prayers for Trinity.  Join us in prayer - in person and online - as we seek God's wisdom and guidance in these matters and any other prayer requests you may have.

Dignity and Hope
About a dozen of our Trinity sisters and brothers gave six hours to those in our community who need assistance with the cost and complicated navigation process of receiving valid Florida identification.  The day started with Deaconess Liz leading the first shift of 75 volunteers in prayer.  After IDignity's Executive Director oriented us on what to expect and how to best serve our clients, we attended training for our assigned area.  Lo (Trinity's representative on IDignity Board of Directors), Glenda, Omar, Gladys, Diann, and Robert are "regulars".  My guess is Brian, Tina, Doug, and Jean enjoyed their shepherding, greeting, hosting so much that they will return in March.  Our congregation generously donated enough funds that we were able to pay for the entire cost of the volunteer lunch. Over 200 clients were welcomed and served with smiles, listening ears, and dignity.  Thank you to all who actively contributed treasure and especially prayers for God's hand in our compassionate outreach.

Comfort Dog Ministry
Don't forget about our Comfort Dog - whomever he or she may be!  We have added a page to our website at TrinityDowntown.com/ComfortDog for you to get information and to make a donation if you so choose. Please pray about being a part of this ministry.  There are several areas to choose from; donor, prayer partner, handlers, visit team, schedulers, fundraising, advertising, photography to name a few. Please email Top Dog Wendy Havens if you are interested: Comfortdog@trinitydowntown.com

OWLS (Older-Wiser-Lutherans) Fellowship
Let's have lunch at High Tide Harry's on Friday, February 24th at 11:30.  It's located at 4645 S. Semoran Blvd, Orlando.  PLEASE call Audrey or Bob Gordon 407-897-1418 or e-mail robert.w.gordon@hotmail.com to confirm attendance. Looking forward to seeing you!

Congregation Spaghetti Lunch
Thank you for loving on us and supporting our TYM (Trinity Youth Ministry) bake sales in December. You blessed us greatly! Unfortunately, no youth were able to attend the FL/GA District Gathering. I will be attending in a small capacity on planning committee. We have and will continue to use the $375.50 raised for a Youth fellowship fund. We have fellowship events planned from February through the beginning of June. It's fun for me to purchase sweet treats and items needed for a particular game or idea. I hope I have your blessing on that, and I thank you! In return, TYM would like to invite you to  "Be Our Guest" at a spaghetti lunch on Sunday, March 19th . We will gather together for a meal in Fellowship Hall with service beginning at 1:00.  Please RSVP to Jenn.Blackwood@trinitydowntown.com and be sure to receive your ticket. Let TYM serve you and thank you!

The Elders Ministry Team Cares For You
Brothers and Sisters in Christ, the Elders strive to have a personal relationship with the members of Trinity Lutheran Church. In order to achieve such a relationship with members, each elder is assigned a list of congregational members to shepherd.  Shepherding may include periodic contact with members, prayer with/for members needing special prayers, and serving as a contact person for members. To insure elder lists of approximately the same numbers, member lists have been established as follows:

The elder assigned to your spiritual care will contact you soon to introduce himself.  Initial contact should be made within the next couple of months. If you have not heard from your elder and have a need, please feel free to contact them or your Senior Elder, Mike Kunze. Finally, I would encourage everyone to complete a blue Attendance Card for each service you attend.  It is important we have accurate attendance information to better serve you. Thank you, and God Bless.

Want to Share the Gospel with Kids in Poland this Summer?
LCMS is currently seeking out people who love Jesus and can help teach an English Bible Camp (similar to a VBS) in Poland this summer.  Does that sound like you? There are ten congregations there ready to reach out with the Gospel to the children of their neighborhoods. Most of these children do not know the Good News of Jesus, and through these camps, they learn about Jesus, and in turn, tell their parents. The local Lutheran congregation can follow up with these families after the camp is done. These camps make a lasting difference in these communities! Needed: teams of 5 to serve July 18-31 or August 1-14, 2017. Teams can come from one congregation, or individuals can apply and be placed on a team.  Team members raise support to cover the cost of the trip, which is about $1100 and includes all costs while in Poland.
You can learn more or apply here: http://servenow.lcms.org/opp/vacation-bible-school-poland/  Read more about this opportunity from those who have served here: https://blogs.lcms.org/2017/english-camps-in-poland
This opportunity is not limited to those who have formal teaching experience, so please invite a friend!  For more info contact Anne Gonzalez, DCE, Manager, Short-term Mission Training & Engagement, LCMS, 314-996-1649

Urgent Prayer Requests During the Week
If you have an urgent prayer request that can't wait until you fill out a yellow prayer card during worship, please submit it via email to Pray@TrinityDowntown.com .  While submitting a yellow card during worship is still the preferred way to share prayer requests, sometimes a prayer need can't wait until Sunday.  Your prayer request (first name and basic details of the prayer requested) will be shared with a team of committed weekday prayer warriors and will also be added to Trinity's regular printed prayer list for the congregation.  All prayers are kept on the printed list for a period of three weeks, so please resubmit long term prayer needs regularly so that they stay on the printed list. Thank you.

Invest with LCEF and Save Trinity money!
If you haven't already, please consider opening an LCEF savings account.  The more investors mean the higher the rebate check will be next year.  Savings account investments start as low as $25 for children under 18 and $100 for adults.   If your child is new to Trinity Lutheran School in either the CDC or K-8 programs Trinity will donate $25 to start the account.  Adult investment accounts with LCEF benefit Trinity in the same way the Youth Investor accounts do, so parents and church members, you can participate as well!  You can apply online at LCEF.org .  For more information, please contact Bruce Hahn at 407-701-3234 or email bruce@mm-c.com .

Please let us know!
Please let your Trinity family know of any scheduled surgery or hospital stay.  In addition to scheduled procedures, please give the church office a call to let us know about extended illness, unplanned hospital stays, or even the birth of a child.  You can call the office at any time and leave a message-no need to wait until business hours (407-488-1919 x100).  During business hours, that information can then be forwarded to the appropriate caregivers.  For an emergency that requires the care of a Pastor after hours or over the weekend, there is an option on our auto-attendant to dial 9 for immediate assistance (listen to the entire message).  We want to be sure to know when you need us-whether to pray with you before a scheduled procedure, sit with you during a loved one's procedure, pray for you while you recover, visit you in the hospital/at home or to share praise and thanksgiving prayers for good news/results.    Just let us know.  Thank you.
