We can all rejoice that Les Darons Rouge is back. This summer the 2013 Les Darons was one of our most popular special offers. We sold a staggering amount of this wine in a very short amount of time. I absolutely understand why many of you are still asking for it.

It had a rich intensity of raspberry, blackberry and blueberry fruit with notes of dried herb and minerality we don't often see at this price point. It was a deal I wished I could continue with through the year, but, like many great wines, the vintage runs out and we are left hoping that the next  vintage is at least reminiscent of the one we loved. To those of you that are thinking along the same lines, I have great news. Not only is the new vintage of Les Darons in but by all reports its even better than last year's. We loved the 2013 which received 88 points from good old Bobby P.

This is what Mr. Parker has to say about the 2014:

"A wine that blew me away was the 2014 Languedoc Les Darons by Jeff Carrel. Still in barrel, it offers thrilling notes of black and blue fruits, violets, and peppery spice to go with a medium to full-bodied, elegant, seamless profile on the palate. A blend of 70% Grenache, 20% Carignan and 10% Syrah that was fermented and aged all in concrete tank, it has striking purity, integrated acidity and a great finish. It should drink nicely on release and have 7-8 years of overall longevity" 91-94 point, Robert Parker

Regularly $14.99,  Special Offer Price $12.74

Cheese: Evelina, Couet Farm & Fromagerie, Dudley, MA  $ 29.99/lb

Evelina is a semi-firm, raw sheep's milk cheese with a natural rind. It is aged at least 60 days in Couet Farms cave d'affinage. Marie-Laure, the cheese maker named this cheese after her great grandmother, Evelina. Evelina was from Québec, and worked night and day cooking, cleaning, and repairing clothes, to care for her nineteen children and her lumberjack husband.

Evelina is a savory tomme that has a delicately gritty mouth feel with notes of sour cream and nuttiness. This cheese is made from raw East Friesian milk from an Amish collective in Eastern New York and then produced and aged in the Couet's cheese cave in Dudley, MA.  This cheese will pair beautifully with the Les Darons, the creamy nuttiness of the Evelina will bring out the delicate and pure berry notes of this Languedoc Red. Enjoy together to celebrate fall!
