MPSD honors Teachers &
Administrator of the Year
The Meridian Public School District announced the 2018 Administrator of the Year and Teacher of the Year at the School Board Meeting held on Monday, April 16, 2018.

LaVonda Germany was chosen as the 2018 Administrator of the Year and Michelle West was chosen as Teacher of the Year.

LaVonda Germany
With 26 years of employment with MPSD, Germany is in her tenth year as Principal of Poplar Springs Elementary. She earned a Bachelor of Science, Masters, and Educational Specialist degree from Mississippi State University. She is also a graduate of Meridian High School.

“We are so excited to recognize Mrs. LaVonda Germany as the Meridian Public School District Administrator of the Year,” said Dr. Amy Carter, MPSD Superintendent.

Michelle West
In her sixteenth year as a teacher, West teaches chemistry and physics at Meridian High School. West earned a bachelors in Chemistry Education at Purdue University.

“Mrs. West is a 16 year veteran of MPSD and we are honored to recognize her as the 2017-2018 MPSD Teacher of the Year,” said Dr. Amy Carter, MPSD Superintendent. “She goes above and beyond to ensure students are engaged and that learning is fun.”
