Magnolia Eighth Grader Wins Slogan Contest
"Floods take homes! Watch the zone!" is winning slogan
Xzavion Jackson, an eighth grader at Magnolia Middle School, was the winner of the 2018 Lauderdale County Program for Public Information’s awareness campaign for flood safety. Jackson received the news at a pep rally on May 2, 2018.

National Spanish Examination
Congratulations to several Spanish students from Meridian High School who attained national recognition for excellent performance on the 2018 National Spanish Examinations.

Students from Meridian High School earned a total of 1 gold and 1 bronze award. James Prewitt, an 11th grader, placed 1st on the State Spanish III category and Maria Mayo-Ramos, a 9th grader placed 7th in the bilingual category for the State.

Brewer averaged 15 points and 9 rebounds during senior year
Meridian High School Senior Tyron Brewer signed to continue his educational and athletic career with Southeastern Louisiana University on Tuesday, May 1, 2018 in a ceremony at the multipurpose building at Meridian High School. Brewer averaged 15 points and 9 rebounds his senior season for the Wildcats.
