The Meridian Public School District hosted its annual Retirement Reception on Tuesday, May 15, to honor district personnel who retired after years of hard work and dedication to the students of Meridian.

“Over the years, these retirees have played an important role in the Meridian Public School District, and they have made a tremendous impact on the lives of so many students,” said MPSD Superintendent Dr. Amy Carter. “I want to personally thank them for their dedication and service to the students of Meridian because our journey towards excellence could not have been achieved without them.”

The Retirement Reception was held on Tuesday, May 15 in the Kahlmus Auditorium on the Meridian Campus of Mississippi State University from 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.
In all, the Meridian Public School District has 10 retirees that represent over 259.5 years of experience in education.

The 2018 retirees are: Wanda Brassfield, T.J. Harris Lower Elementary, Margaret Brooks, District, Marsha Iverson, Meridian High School, Carolyn Logan, Magnolia Middle School, Linda Posey, Poplar Springs Elementary, Delores Riddle, T.J. Harris Lower Elementary, Leisa Shumaker, Ross Collins, Nina "Charlette" Trotter, Oakland Heights Elementary, Shelley Whittington, Poplar Springs Elementary, and Barbara Young, Oakland Heights Elementary.
