The Chamber of Manitowoc County:    Headshots are an important part of business success! They can be used for a multitude of marketing materials and for your social media presence. Blue Moon Studio, Inc. will be offering headshots to Chamber members for $25! The Salvation Army of Manitowoc County: Bell Ringers Needed!!! Can you give two hours of your time this year to volunteer to ring bells? This year's Red Kettle Campaign runs from November 17 until Christmas Eve. The funds raised help us fill needs in the community year round. (Laurel Grove Assisted Living): Author Visit & Book Signing - Two Rivers native Ronald Hoffman will present his book, "To Hear Silence" on Thursday, November 9, at 1:30pm at Laurel Grove Assisted Living, 1235 S. 24th St., Manitowoc. The book, a true account of 1st Battalion13th Marine Charlie Battery's experiences in supporting units of the 3rd Battalion 26th Marines in 1966-67 in Vietnam. Reception to follow.

The Crossing of Manitowoc County  celebrates the work of volunteer advocates. One advocate works with women coming for ultrasound exams. She remembers one nervous family at their first appointment, coping with an unplanned pregnancy. They were fascinated with our life-sized models of babies in development and were delighted with the 12-week-old model, just like their own baby. They went home with photos to show friends. The Bay at North Ridge, 1445 N. 7th St., Manitowoc, salutes our veterans. The public is welcome to attend the Veterans Ceremony on Friday, November 10, at 9.30am, when we honor our residents who have served their country. The Honor Guard from Otto-Oas VFW Post 659 will present the colors and acknowledge our service men and women. Each veteran will receive a gift. Refreshments will be served after the ceremony. Joe Kazda will be discussing the start of Manitowoc's first tavern in the 1830s, the rise of the first breweries, and a business district that would eventually support nearly one hundred taverns at its peak during the 1950s. Atrium Post Acute Care of Two Rivers: Domestic Violence Awareness, with a focus on older adults, is the topic of the November 16 Third Thursday event at Atrium Post Acute Care of Two Rivers.  The event begins with an optional bingo game at 2:00pm, followed by the presentation at 3:00pm. The stage has been set and the actors are in final rehearsals.  Get your tickets now for "Wait Until Dark," playing November 9-11, at 7:30pm, at the Capitol Civic Centre. In this suspense-thriller, a blind housewife becomes the target of con-men searching for a "treasure." The leader of the pack convinces his team that they are going to be rich and will get the "treasure" soon enough, but in the end, he adds to the murder toll. Lester Public Library: Tonight at 6:00pm, the library hosts a special showing of the movie Honor Flight.  This powerful documentary tells the story of four WWII veterans and the community that comes together to give them the trip of a lifetime. Honor Flight volunteer Mark Grams introduces the movie and answers questions about the Honor Flight Network. At 6:00pm Wednesday, historian Patrick Gagnon details the fascinating affiliation Two Rivers had with professional football from 1939 through 1947 when the city was the preseason training site for several teams. And at 2:30pm Saturday, all ages can learn the basics of computer programming at our Hour of Code.
