Dear STS Parents,

Please check out our fifth grade classes featured on Channel 9 today (click link below)! A special word of thanks to STS Parent, Mrs. Burke, for making this possible.

On behalf of our teachers I'd like to thank our generous PTO executive Board for providing our faculty with snacks and much needed, high quality coffee.

Please be sure to watch Mr. Pryor's humorous video that provides a comparison of the new Scantron Testing Program with the Terranova assessment tool and this month's Academic Newsletter please click :  Link to Newsletter

I hope you can make this Friday's Pastor / Principal's Coffee. The session is scheduled in the McGivney room, following the 9:00 AM School Mass. I will be discussing our safety plans, in preparation for the Town Hall Meeting scheduled for next Thursday, 10/20.

Our first Town Hall of the year will be focused on school safety and will be hosted by our STS Safety Committee. The date for the town hall is Thursday, 10/20 from 6:00 pm till 7:30 pm in the school library. We will do our best to provide remote digital access for our parents who are unable to attend the session. We will be discussing the following issues:

  • Bus Safety / Communication Plans.
  • Safety Audit results.
  • Current safety issues in the local community.
  • Parent / Teacher & Student Awareness Training Programs.
  • Plans to deter playground arsonist

Each year we are required by the Bishop to present a lesson plan, provided by the Diocese, devoted to the topic of   "Formation in Christian Chastity". This program is mandated by the Office of Child Protection and provides teachers and parents with resources to help inform our students about safety from the perspective of human dignity. The lessons for grades 1st through 5th will start in two weeks, 10/31 - 11/4. This will give the parents enough time to opt out if they so choose. Teachers will post the exact dates of their presentation on this topic on their teacher websites.

You have total access to the materials by going to the following website:

There you will find the exact lesson plans and script for the plans. The site can also answer any questions you may have regarding the justification for and reasoning behind our diocese's selection and mandating of this program. If you would like to opt your child out of these lessons, attached, please find an opt-out form. I ask that you please complete the form and submit it to Mrs. Moses by no later than Thursday, 10/27.

As I mentioned in last week's Tuesday Tidbits publication, Mrs. Gott is working with our Youth ministers (Patrick and Christina Jacobeen) to offer our Middle School students a customized presentation on this topic. They are presenting this material to the students this week.

God bless you,
Joseph M. McLaughlin,  Principal, Saint Timothy Catholic School

CL INIC UPDATE :
nurse patrice

We have continued to have students K-8 with complaints of headaches, sometimes with fever.  There has been a few cases of laryngitis and viral pharyngitis; this often accompanies the common cold or flu virus.

Classroom Celebrations : Please remember to notify the teacher and school nurse concerning any food that will be brought in to class. This way we can confirm Safe Snacks for Allergies within the classroom.  I truly appreciate all you do to keep our school safe.

National Dental Hygiene Month  (NDHM) is a month-long observance of the importance of proper oral hygiene . The American Dental Health Association  emphasizes the DAILY 4 : Brush, Floss, Rinse and Chew . Incorporating these steps into a regular oral health routine for you and your children can have a significant impact on overall health.

Thank you again for your continued support of our school, we greatly appreciate it.

Mrs. Patrice Snowden, BSN, RN
