Dear Parents,

I am pleased to announce that our carpool performance is improving everyday, thanks to you!. For those pre-K parents who are new to the process, attached, please find two carpool videos created by Mrs. Rutledge and Mrs. Nash.  The videos outline the morning and afternoon procedures. A special word of thanks to all of our parents for your continued patience and adherence to the procedures, I greatly appreciate your support and cooperation!

Please join m e for t he Pastor/ Principal Coffee -  Friday, September 9th following the 9 a.m. Mass. I will be discussing the survey results from the Enrollment Management Parent Satisfaction Survey and some of the new initiatives scheduled for this year. Hope to see many of you there!

To the parents of our eighth grade students, St. Timothy Catholic School will once again make arrangements for a High School Placement Test (HSPT) review course for students at a special price. This program has helped our students over the past three years to increase their scores on the High School Placement Test. This has resulted in additional scholarship awards and placement of STS students in honor tracks for various courses.Details for this program are forthcoming next week.

Our fourth Annual Parish Festival is rapidly approaching (on October 1 st), and we are still in need of volunteers. If you are interested in helping out with any of the activities, we ask that you please contact Mrs. Terri Miller in the parish office. All parent volunteers will receive points towards their "Points for Parents" requirements.

As I mentioned in my comments at last week's PTO meeting, this year's school theme is "Expecting Excellence". The administration and staff intend to model this excellence this year in how we communicate with all stakeholders, in the quality of our instruction, in our interactions with others and in how we present ourselves. Subsequently, we will also expect the students to respond to this challenge of high standards (academically, spiritually and socially).

There have been some questions regarding the student uniform code that I'd like to provide some additional clarity on. Please note that the entire STS uniform policy is currently outlined on our school website under the parent resources heading. The summer uniform for both boys and girls may be worn until the Columbus Day weekend in October, and may be worn starting the first Monday in May. Tennis shoes may be worn with this uniform. There have been specific questions regarding the wearing of Tan Sperrys, acceptable sock colors, what spiritwear is acceptable for P.E. and when it gets cold, what spiritwear will be acceptable (to be worn over the STS sweaters).

Here are the responses to these questions:
  • The Tan Sperry shoes are fine.
  • The summer uniform calls for white crew socks that must be visible above the top of the shoe and cover the ankle. That said, I realize that we have not fully enforced this policy last year, so many students have been wearing white crew socks with logos on top. Subsequently, this has been viewed by many as an acceptable option. Please note that the white crew sock is the dress code, but given that we did not consistently enforce this (last year), I understand that parents have already purchased socks with the logos on them. That said, I also understand that sufficient advance notice is essential and a reasonable expectation of parents. Subsequently, we intend to move to a white crew, (without logos) by next year (2017 - 18) and will not penalize those students who show up with small logos on their socks. Today I noticed that almost all of our students were wearing white crew socks and I want to thank all of you for making this happen.
  • Students are permitted to wear STS spirit wear hoodies or STS fleece tops with their P.E. uniforms. The students will also be able to wear these items over their sweaters when the weather gets much colder.
I hope this answers everyone's questions on this topic, please don't hesitate to contact me if you have any additional questions.  We greatly appreciate your consideration and understanding of our efforts to move toward a uniform policy that is consistent and reflects well on our entire community.

I f you are hoping to sign up for After School care please contact  Mrs. Elise Facciolo . There are still a few spots available.

Middle School Parents, if you are interested in receiving any emails your student sends please contact Ms.Nash.  lnash@sttimothyparish.org

Please note that the Parent Portal is now open for 3rd to 8th grade students. We ask that you p
lease sign in to your Power School account and add your Emergency Care information, if you have not already done so. If you have trouble logging into your account or have specific questions please contact  Mrs. Cowan  or  Mrs. Irons.

Thanks so much for your strong support of our amazing school. I greatly appreciate it!

God bless you,
