Dear Parents,

I'd like to thank Ms. Lindsay Nash for facilitating our 2nd Annual Hour of Code, scheduled for Thursday, December 8th from 3:30-4:30 p.m (in the STEM Lab). The program will be open to grades K-8. The Hour of Code started as a one-hour introduction to computer science, designed to demystify "code", to show that anybody can learn the basics, and to broaden participation in the field of computer science. It has since become a worldwide effort to celebrate computer science, starting with and hour of coding activities and expanding to support numerous community initiatives. This grassroots campaign is supported by over 400 partners and 200,000 educators worldwide, including STS!

The NJHS is sponsoring a Krispy Kreme Donut sale on  Friday,

The High School Placement Test is scheduled for our eighth grade students on Thursday, December 1st. Good luck students!  Middle school parents are asked to please consult the middle school teacher websites for the mid-term exam schedule.

St.Timothy School's 2nd annual Hour of Code after school on Thursday December 8th From 3:30-4:30. Open to grades K-8. I will create a sign up like last year and open it up to around 35 students and parent volunteers. https://hourofcode.com/us.

Finally, on behalf of Saint Timothy Catholic School's faculty and staff, may you have a happy, safe and blessed Thanksgiving Holiday.

Clinic News

Clinic Issues: We have had a number of reportsof upper respiratory infections and pneumonia. Should your child run a fever with a persistent coughcall your doctor.  If any child has a fever above 104 F, call your doctor immediately or visit an emergency room.  In children with fever, accompanying symptoms such as lethargy, poor appetite,  sore throat ,  cough ,  ear pain ,  vomiting ,  diarrhea , headache, stiff neck and rash are important to relay to your doctor. Call the doctor if the fever lasts more than 1 day in a child less than 2 years old or lasts more than 3 days in a child age 2 or older.

Winter weather is here! Please do not send students without coats, hats or gloves. They need recess/outdoor playtime to stay healthy but without a coat on a day like today they may not be allowed to go outside.

Attention BUS Riders : Reminder: No food is allowed on the bus.  Please discuss this with your children. We must consider those students with food allergies and also the Bus Drivers responsibilities and rules. Thank you

Friday morning Mass : We have had a number of students feel faint during Mass. There may be a number of reasons for this that I would like to mention. First, St. Timothy students arrive at school by 7:45AM, so if a student misses breakfast and goes to mass on an empty stomach, they may be experiencing low blood sugar and begin to feel nauseous. We all know that breakfast is "the most important meal of the day"; so I do recommend that students try to eat something before school, especially on Mass days(there is still plenty of time to abstain for at least one hour before holy communion from any food and drink). Also, the church can be warmer certain times of year and they may get overheated easily. The teachers do prompt them to remove jackets but they don't always. Lastly, some students have said they felt ill or had a stomach ache before Mass. If this is the case, they can let their teacher know and maybe they can sit on the end or in the back so they are not crowded in with the other students.  I found this article in a blog written By Monsignor Charles Pope; he discusses these incidences from his perspective as a priest. It includes more detailed information about the causes in a very enlightening manner.

Have a Blessed Thanksgiving!

God bless you!
