Educational Trailer Updates
In the weeks after Irma had wrecked havoc on our island chain we at Save-A-Turtle are working hard to ensure we will be in full swing come next nesting season. With that being said since our last update we were able to make it out to our educational trailer. For those of you who we have had the pleasure of meeting at events may have had a chance to see our trailer in her glory. We were able to set up a strong presence at local events to educate the public on many different aspects of the turtles; from nesting to specie identification, beach protection to lighting.

The below images show a before and after Irma damage. We were able to salvage a handful of license plates, a banner and a few odds and ends, everything else in the trailer has been a total loss including an incredible lighting display showing options of turtle friendly lights, and our beloved Wyland Save-A-Turtle T-Shirts.

The trailer was a tool that we all were very proud of, and while it housed all of our merchandise and educational materials, it did not house the passion that all of the volunteers at Save-A-Turtle has for the turtles of the Florida Keys, or the beaches that we walk. We are proud to say that Save-A-Turtle is here and present in the community and while our set up is a little different, we were able to already make it out to a hurricane relief event on Big Pine to raise funds and spread awareness.

Meet our Ambassador of Hope: Doppler
Last Month we introduced to you this little guy as our ambassador of hope and we started a contest to name him. At our last board meeting we voted on all of the wonderful submissions and we decided to go with the name Doppler, We we would like to officially introduce to you Doppler, The video below is a little more about his story.

*We are not 100% sure on the gender of the hatchling but due to the nest location being in the shade we know that the nest would have been cooler and temperature is what determines sex in hatchlings, Rule of Thumb is "Cool Dudes, Hot Chicks" This is why we at Save-A-Turtle have decided to refer to Doppler as a he.
