2012 Season

The 2012 Abundant Market - our downtown farmers' market - will take place on Saturday mornings (8 am to noon) from June through September in Downtown Tuscola.

Tuscola Swimming Pool
2012 Season

The Tuscola Swimming Pool will open on Memorial Day Weekend! Passes can be purchased at City Hall (214 N. Main Street) until the pool opens.

For those of you just visiting the community for a short time, we've created a coupon book (10 admissions for $30). All rates can be viewed by downloading the file below.

Vintage Karma

Vintage Karma, the newest business in Downtown Tuscola, will be hosting a Craft Night every Wednesday evening at 5 pm starting on Wednesday, May 9th.

Drive One 4UR School
Friday, May 11th

Tuscola Community Unit School District #301 is teaming up with Tim Mooney Ford to earn up to $6,000 towards their extracurricular programs. To contribute, all you have to do is test drive a vehicle! Each vehicle test drive will earn the school $20.

The event will take place at East Prairie (near the ball diamonds) on Friday, May 11th from 11 am to 6 pm.

Sparks in the Park 2012

We are in the middle of the planning process for the 2012 Sparks in the Park Celebration to be held on Friday, July 6th & Saturday, July 7th.

Volunteers Needed
SAM Food Pantry

The SAM Food Pantry - located at the Tuscola United Methodist Church - is in need of permanent volunteers for a couple of their re-stocking slots: the 4th Wednesday and the 2nd Friday of each month from 8:30 to 11/11:30 am.

Recycle Old Electronics
1st Tuesday of Every Month

Need a place to recycle your old electronics? Visit the Tuscola IGA parking lot on the first Tuesday of every month from 12:30 to 2:30 pm.

1st Annual Marilyn Davidson High Heel Dash
Saturday, June 9th

The 1st Annual Marilyn Davidson High Heel Dash will take place on Saturday, June 9th in Downtown Tuscola. The dash is a benefit for Tuscola Community School District #301.

Attention softball teams! Mark your calendars for the Flat Land Slugger Fest taking place from July 13th - 15th in Tuscola and Villa Grove.

Lunch and Learn
Wednesday, May 16th

The Tuscola Chamber of Commerce is offering a new program for any business owner, manager, or HR Representative!

Their first Lunch & Learn will take place on Wednesday, May 16th - 12 pm at Los Potros in the back room (208 N. Parke). The session topic will be Unemployment Compensation and Employee Handbooks. Lorna Geiler, an attorney from Meyer Capel, will be the speaker.

Lunch will be on your own. Please bring any questions you have on these two topics. For more information, please email chamber@tuscola.org.

Tuscola History Lesson

An Ordinance of the City of Tuscola in the County of Douglas and State of Illinois in 1927

Pg. 114, Section 77: Orange Peel, Banana, Etc. - Whoever shall throw, cast, lay or place on any sidewalk in the City of Tuscola, the rind or peel of any orange, banana, apple or other fruit, shall be subject to a penalty of not less than one dollar nor more than ten dollars.
