Dear  ,

You're an awesome volunteer!  We hope it's perfectly clear how much we value what you do for your learner!

Tutor Tip -  Describing Routine Actions

When describing routine actions, many of our learners use an incorrect verb tense.   We use the simple present tense to describe daily or routine activities.
Attachment #1 illustrates verb conjugation for the simple present tense and spelling rules for the 3rd person singular (he, she, it).

Attachment #2 is a writing exercise for the simple present tense.
Suggested Activities:

a)    You and your learner bring in magazines from home and cut out illustrations of daily activities.  Create a collage of illustrations and help your learner write a complete sentence below each picture using the simple present tense.  Now have your learner practice repeating the activities to you aloud.
b)   See attachment #2.  Have your learner write complete sentences about their routine activities.
c)    Describe your routine activities to your learner.  Help them write complete sentences about your routine activities.
Scoring and Testing of all learners continues!
Tutor In-service being planned for August 30, 2017
Learn about your learner's test scores!  We have scheduled Wednesday , August 30, 2017 for an in-service where you will be able to review your learner's actual test. We have almost 200 learners that need to be tested, scored and those scores entered into our database, please be understanding that it would be impossible for Jody to meet one-on-one with our tutors to review each learners' test.

Would you help spread the word about our need for tutors?
Adults Remain On Our Wait List
There are 98  potential learners currently on our waiting list. These learners need to be tested before they can enter the program, and are not ready to be matched. We have a different group of learners who are tested and ready to be matched.
Matching these learners is our priority as they have been waiting the longest for a tutor. We do everything we can to match our tutors and learners as fast as possible. We must find a pair that has the same availability, and this often slows down the process.
If you are currently waiting for a learner, we are working on setting up a match meeting as soon as possible. Thank you for your patience.

If you have specific questions please feel free to email Jody or Yadira.

August 2017 training dates are here!  Please share with your friends and family who might be interested in becoming a volunteer tutor!
