AND ONGOING INFORMATION
Are you thankful for a blessing or something special? Let the office know and we can add it to the prayers. Deadline is Tuesday afternoon as Sunday bulletins are printed early Thursday mornings. Let us know and we can add it to the Sunday prayers of thanksgiving.
The church office is looking for someone with videography and photography skills to volunteer to vlog special events and talks throughout the year. Basic video shooting and editing skills are all that is required.

Help those affected by Hurricanes Harvey, Irma and Maria. Your generous support will supply critical necessities for communities as we help them recover and rebuild.

Monetary Donations for Northern California Fire Victims
The fires in Napa and Sonoma have devastated communities and displaced many.
Most of the shelters are no longer accepting material donations but will need them again once folks are relocated in about two weeks. If you have beds and clothing or other soon to be needed items for setting up a household, please stockpile them or email David Hirsch at firstname.lastname@example.org
Please keep our neighbors to the north in your prayers, as well as the first responders.
From the Rector
Jane Austen died 200 years ago at the age of 41. I think of my daughter when I think of her. Gillian's a great admirer, she's cut to the measure of an Austen heroine, and, like Jane, she's the daughter of an Anglican clergyman. It'll be in Jane's honor that we'll start a St Stephen's Books group soon enough.
Her father was the Rev'd George Austen ('the Handsome Proctor' of St John's College, Oxford), so Jane grew up critiquing clergy. If you look at the scenes in which you see her clergymen, they're always in social settings; you never see them in church, never at their prayers. It's not their faith she's critiquing, it's their role in society, the ones who don't take their responsibilities there seriously.
Art Angels is this Thursday and Friday. It's the kind of thing one could see in an Austen novel. So be social: buy tickets to the Gala, invite friends, and say,
Welcome to St Stephen's.
See you in church,
The Rev'd Christine McSpadden
This Sunday, please welcome, the Rev'd Christine McSpadden as Celebrant at the 10 o'clock service. The Rev'd McSpadden, a graduate of the University of Virginia and Yale/Berkeley Divinity School, has served in churches from St Bartholomew's Church in New York City (with your Rector) to St Paul's Cathedral in London. Currently resident in the Diocese of California, she has served at St Luke's, St Mary the Virgin, and Grace Cathedral in San Francisco, and was formerly Rector of Trinity Episcopal Church in Santa Barbara.
Karl Belgum will lead the second discussion on the "Wisdom Books", specifically Job. Grab something to drink and eat at Coffee Connections in Kimball Hall after the 10 o'clock service and then come upstairs in the Parish House to the
Becker Conference Room at 11:30 am

Shari Young, Missy Leathers, Chris Mudge, David Kirchhoff, Sue Kwentus, George Brown, Koko Peters, and Fr. Ellsworth.
