TwinWest Chamber of Commerce Appoints Brad Meier President
Today, the TwinWest Chamber of Commerce announced that it has selected Brad Meier to serve as its next president. The announcement is the culmination of a focused member driven, multi-stage selection process.
Mike Sowada, Board Chair for TwinWest, stated: "On Behalf of the Board of Directors, I am very excited to announce that Brad Meier will join TwinWest Chamber of Commerce on February 11, 2013 as President/CEO. I am especially excited that Brad is bringing his strong member-driven leadership abilities and extensive chamber experience to TwinWest."
TwinWest will capitalize on Meier's 12 years of Chamber leadership experience to focus on issues that are important to the western Twin Cities business community. "I'm excited to join the TwinWest Chamber. This organization has a strong track record and reputation of working on important issues for the business community. We plan to work closely with our current members and make a concerted effort to bring new businesses into the membership so that we can meet the ambitious goals set forth by the Board of Directors," said Meier.
A seasoned Chamber professional, Meier brings over 12 years of Chamber experience, serving as President/CEO for the last 9 years as the Owatonna Chamber of Commerce & Tourism. Under Meier's leadership, the Owatonna Chamber recently received a 5 Star Accreditation from the United States Chamber of Commerce. Prior to Owatonna, Meier served almost 4 years as the Executive Director of the River Falls, WI Chamber of Commerce. Meier is enthusiastic about the new position, adding: "My experience leading chamber of commerce organizations for the last 12 years includes first-hand work advocating for business issues, expanding networking opportunities, supervising and evaluating staff, strategic planning and preparing budgets. Not to mention the day-to-day fast paced decision-making skills needed in a high energy position like this one."
Meier has served not only as a chamber president for many years, but also as a leader in the Minnesota Chamber of Commerce Executives (MCCE), the statewide chamber leadership trade association. This gives TwinWest the ability to tap into the collective wisdom of business organizations across the state and the Upper Midwest to provide top value to members. Brad's addition completes TwinWest's staff team of outstanding policy, programming and growth professionals that are "Setting the Standard. Leading the Way."
Sowada also emphasized the addition of Meier and his family to the TwinWest area; "I know that Brad, his wife (Heidi), and their five children are excited about relocating to the Twin Cities area. Brad and his family have been active in their local community. Sowada added, "Please join me in welcoming Brad to our team and Brad's family to the community. Congratulations to both Brad and TwinWest!"
