Audience: Middle or High School Teachers

The Economics Personal Financial Literacy TEKS are being implemented in economics, social studies and cFlightimgareer/technical classes.  However, questions still race in so many educators' minds as to how to successfully cover the content in a way that will prepare students for life.  Texas Council on Economic Education (TCEE), the Texas Credit Union Foundation, Opportunity Texas, and State Farm are working collaboratively to offer 15-20 middle and high school economics, social studies, and Career/Technical teachers the opportunity to learn greater insight into the financial literacy content and the teaching strategies to cover the student expectations.

TCEE sponsors a Smarter Texas Personal Financial Literacy program with the ultimate goal that Texas students will be wiser consumers and savers.  TCEE will offer a more intense training with experts in the field for 20 middle and/or high school teachers that is known as the FLIGHT program, which is a component of the Smarter Texas program.  Participating teachers will need to apply for the program and agree to the program terms.

$200 in financial support is available to teachers who meet the program conditions.
