I Heart Wisconsin River Trip

The I Heart Wisconsin trip was an 18-day paddle from the source of the Wisconsin River to its confluence with the Mississippi in October 2015. As a positive response to the state's budget cuts to natural resources, Ruth Oppedahl (Executive Director of the Natural Resources Foundation of Wisconsin) decided to use her vacation exploring our state from north to south and meeting with conservation groups and citizens along the way to learn how they help protect our lands, waters and wildlife. She discovered a beautiful, wild river and wonderful people along the way.

The program begins at 5:30 PM, with optional dinner and conversation after the presentation. Register in advance by calling the Cable Natural History Museum (715-798-3890). $5 member/$10 non-member.

Valentine's Day is Just Around the Corner

This year Valentine's Day happens to fall on a Tuesday (February 14). And while the Rookery generally is closed on Tuesday evenings at this time of year, we  don't want you to have to disappoint your sweetheart. So  we're gonna make an exception and open for Valentine's Day with a very special menu that evening.

This romantic dinner always is  one of our busiest of the winter. And last year we filled all available openings. So call soon to ensure your spot.

And lest our weekend guests feel left out, we're also going to give you the opportunity to celebrate the midweek occasion a little early this year by offering our special five course dinner on the Saturday and Sunday evenings immediately preceding Valentine's Day (Feb 11 & 12). We anticipate those evenings will be busy as well, so please help us better serve you by reserving early and indicating your interest in our Sweetheart Dinner.


The Rookery's Valentine Sweetheart Dinner

Bruschetta
toasted baguettes with vine ripened tomatoes, fresh basil & garlic, and olive oil finished with shredded parmesan and a balsamic glaze

Ying & Yang Soup
sweet roasted red peppers smoothed with a lace of heavy cream AND
black bean purée w/ hint of cumin & cilantro dolloped with sour cream
(paired in the same bowl)

Blue Apple Salad
mixed greens tossed with Granny Smith apples, roasted pecans, and red onions topped with fresh blue cheese crumbles & finished with housemade raspberry vinaigrette

Black Angus Ribeye OR Seafood Lover's Trio
hand cut 12 oz ribeye seasoned and charred to perfection, topped with a brandy mushroom demi-glace
or
half a lobster tail steamed in Chardonnay and lemon, three jumbo shrimp crusted in coconut panko with a spicy orange dill aïoli, & three sea scallops grilled on a skewer with a tequila lime cilantro sauce

Flourless Chocolate Torte
knock-out blend of four chocolates finished with a ganache topping, elegant and timeless, like a little black dress


All this for just $99 per couple.  Offered Saturday/Sunday & Tuesday, February 11-12 & 14.  Reservations are highly recommended (715-794-2062).
