Introducing Two New Interns: Evie and Mike!

Dear ,

My name is Evie Decker and I am Out Boulder's new Transgender Program Intern. I'm currently working on my Masters in Social Work (MSW) at CSU.

My past work experience has been with LGBTQIA individuals at CSU's GLBTQQA Resource Center.

I personally identify as a transgender woman, and I'm very excited to focus on connecting trans* members of our community to resources.

Please feel free to stop by my office anytime Monday through Wednesday from 9-5 AM if you would like to talk with me in a safe and supportive environment. I am looking forward to meeting all of you and soon!

See you soon,

Evie Decker [she/her/hers]

Hey  ,

My name is Mike and I am the new Speaking Out Program Intern at Out Boulder! I am currently a BSW (Bachelors in Social Work) student at Metro State University in Denver.

I started doing social work when I was living in Canada, where I volunteered to facilitate two support groups. I greatly enjoyed being able to help peers, and that love quickly spurred me to make a change in my career path and pursue a BSW in the United States.

My husband and I met online while I was living in Canada, and when I came to Colorado for school, we moved in together. I have two wonderful stepkids and enjoy playing golf, watching hockey, and seeing a movie every Sunday for date night.

I hope to see all of you as we continue the Speaking Out program!

Sincerely,

Mike Jones [he/him/his]

Out Youth Film Project Continues THIS SATURDAY (9/23)

The Out Youth Film Project is up and running! Don't worry if you missed last week, because for the first month, the project is open to anyone who might be interested.

In the first month we will be holding film screenings from the 1-3 PM Free Work period, so even if you'd just like to join us for these films and a discussion, you can! (Ages 13 and above)
Participants after 10/17 will need to be able to commit to attendance every Saturday from 11-1, however if this is a burden, we can find a solution to make sure everyone has the ability to participate. Free work time from 1-3 PM is always optional, but will become more necessary further on in the year.

The Film Project is a serious commitment, but this unique class is worth it. Once everyone's films are done, we will host a premiere event open to community members to share everyone's films! (location TBD)
