Two Polish Falcons Heroes To Be Honored
I am pleased to announce to you that the Polish Falcons of America has been invited to participate in a historic event marking the 100th Anniversary of Poland's Independence following World War I. On Sunday, August 19, 2018, the Polish Army Veterans Association of America District 2 in New York will be unveiling a commemorative plaque during the annual Soldier's Day Celebration at the American Shrine of Our Lady of Czestochowa in Doylestown, Pa.

The plaque depicts Polish Falcons past President Dr. Teofil A. Starzynski, a true founder of the war effort of the Polish Immigration in America in 1917-1919. Dr. Starzynski served as PFA National President from 1912-1918 and 1924 to 1952. In the War Effort, he led the recruitment of more than 20,000 volunteers from the U.S. and Canada to the Polish Army in France, also known as the Blue Army. Most of the volunteers were Members of the Polish Falcons.

The second figure on the plaque is Agnieszka Wisla, also a Member of the Polish Falcons, who was an outstanding volunteer during the recruitment effort of the Polish Army in France. She was the only Falcon from Chicago to serve as a nurse of the Polish White Cross in France and Poland.

The plaque was created by Andrzej Pitynski, a well-known Polish artist/sculptor in the United States.

In addition to the unveiling of the plaque, wreaths will be laid at the grave of Dr. Starzynski who is buried in the cemetery at the Shrine. Below is the schedule for the day.
