We are asking our members to register for future meetings. 

There are several reasons.

We are growing (a good thing) and in order to plan properly giving us a headcount in advance for seating requirements.

Also, it allows us to capture in a simple process the emails of those who are attending to make sure our database is up to speed.

We often have a hard time reading the writing of those registering for the first time. We don't want to miss out on connecting with them for future meetings.

Which Quran?
The Quran holds the truth to Islam. It describes clearly the violent history of Islam under Muhammad, how women are treated and many other disturbing passages.

Beginning in the '80's, Islamic publishers made
a conscious decision  to "tone down" some of the wording and actually change the English translation that had stood for years into a "softer language" that left the reader with a different impression than what the original version stated. 

Which version should one purchase and reference for the most accurate translation?

WE ARE MAKING A DIFFERENCE

2007/11 PEW SURVEY RESULTS
U.S. MUSLIMS VIEWS ON TERRORISM
The number of Muslims in the United States iin 2007 was 2.6 million Muslims. In 2011 the number was only slightly more.

A common rebuttal when addressing terrorism and Islam is "all Muslims are not terrorists" and of course that is to disarm you and shut down the debate. 

The above statement is a fact and we should happily agree with that premise...it would be foolish to think otherwise.

Throw out these "facts" also and see the response.

From both 2007 and 2011 Pew Research
(a left of center polling organization). 

When asked of all US Muslims,

"Can suicide bombing ever be justified?"

2007 - 8% said either "often or sometimes"
2007 - 5% said "rarely" 


So 13% of all US Muslims approve in some form of suicide bombing

That's approximately 300,000 Muslims!

However, Muslims 18-29 yr old Muslims the number who said either "often, sometimes or rarely" was

26%

1 out 4!!

Which age group does ISIS recruit from?

So, 4 years later, are things better?

The percentage of US Muslims supporting suicide bombing was
precisely the same!


PEW didn't break down the numbers by age groups in 2011 but one could assume the numbers remained the same.  The largest age group survey by PEW (37%) came from the 18-29 year group.

What can we conclude?

WHEN SOMEONE SAYS

"Most Muslims are peaceful",  yes, but....please point out the number of Muslims who believe otherwise would fill up nearly 3 Rose Bowls!

Then ask "how many hijackers did it take to bring down the Twin Towers, Boston Marathon, Ft Hood Shootings and many others?"

Just stick to the facts, not the emotion! 
 

Volunteers for Brigitte's Visit
Thank you to all of you have volunteered to assist with the logistics of hosting Brigitte's visit at Village Parkway Baptist Church. 

You should've received an email already with some general directions.  All volunteers are asked to be at the church NLT 4:30 PM.  Please be prompt as the instructions will be given only once as there will be a lot to accomplish in the 1+45 minutes before the door opens. 

La Nell Haynie is handling all the coordination and we are all grateful for her and all of the volunteers who are assisting. 

As a reminder, if you are unable to volunteer or have changed your mind, please notify La Nell on her cell phone.  The number was included in the email or you can Roy White at 214.924.9033. 
Did You Know?
Up until its conviction for funding terrorism (Hamas), the Holy Land Foundation based in Richardson, TX was the largest Muslim charity.

The HLF became the largest Muslim charity when the previous largest Muslim charity was charged by the US government for supporting terrorism.

This Islamic charity became the largest when the previous largest one was convicted for supporting terrorism also.
