Highlights
Mary Bergeron  has been selected as the Department of Medicine Employee of the Month for December 2016!
Mary heads the business operations for CFAR leading a team that manages over $20M in extramural grants and contracts involving multiple agency and international activities.  Mary is known for consistently exceeding expectations in her responsibilities including personnel policy administration, space and facilities planning, grants administration, policy interpretation and enforcement.
CFAR /  RISC celebrated the Holidays with a Holiday Party on December 13, 2016!wa
Everyone from CFAR and RISC came together by bringing items for a potluck lunch and dessert. The party ended with a Santa Swap gift exchange!

Attend Our Research Roundtables

Research Round Table

Led by Drs. Ellen Eaton & Laura Timares

CFAR Conference Room 256 Fridays 1-2pm

This meeting includes investigators from all disciplines in a weekly, informal "Research Roundtable" where projects can be discussed from inception to presentation and publication. Both Clinical and Basic Science presentations will be included on alternating weeks.

January 13 - Core J/K: Bio-Behavioral Research Discussion: Utilizing Biomarkers e.g. hair samples for cortisol analysis, blood samples to measure viral load.

    The UAB Nathan Shock Center will be hosting its First Annual Symposium on the Basic Biology of Aging on March 15, 2017 at the Hill Student Center in Ballroom A from 9am to 3pm. 

    A call for abstracts focused on research of interest to those in the aging field is now open. Several abstracts will be selected to present ten minute talks and the rest will be welcomed in a poster competition. The link to submit an abstract is http://www.uab.edu/shockcenter/symposium
