U CF Volunteers Honored with Governor's Medal of Unity
Dr. Deborah Beidel and Madeline Marks of the UCF Department of Psychology were honored with the Governor's Medal of Unity for their work with victims and first responders in the weeks that followed the Pulse nightclub shooting. Read more
UCF Team to Receive Revolutionary Microscope    
The fastest detecting and most advanced electron microscope in the world is coming to the Department of Physics thanks to a team from UCF and its National Science Foundation grant. The new piece of equipment will open up research opportunities across campus and beyond.  Read more

UCF Biologists Swarm Insect Conference
Faculty and students from the UCF Department of Biology presented their research at the 2016 International Congress of Entomology conference in Orlando. The department hosted international scholars on the UCF campus for a tour of its bug closet.  Read more

A Prize from a King 
Dr. Alexander Katsevich, professor in the UCF Department of Mathematics, was awarded the world renowned Marcus Wallenberg Prize by the King of Sweden for his development of a computed tomography scanner for whole tree logs.  Read more
New Ways to Colonize Mars 
University of Central Florida researcher Dr. Phillip Metzger was featured in an article in The Atlantic about his research on colonizing Mars using 3D-printing. Read more
Diving into Spanish-Speaking Media 
Katie Coronado and Dr. Erica Kight of the UCF Nicholson School of Communication are at the forefront of the Hispanic Media Initiative at UCF, offering students a communications program that teaches how to deliver news to both English and Spanish speaking audiences. Read more

Award Winning Linguistic Anthropology  
UCF anthropology senior Christy Box was awarded the Distinguished Undergraduate Research Award for the month of November for her research on linguistic anthropology.  Read more
Salute to Steven Sotloff 

Senior in the UCF Nicholson School of Communication Adam Manno was awarded the first scholarship from the Steven Sotloff Memorial Endowed Fund. The fund was established in memory of Steven Sotloff, a former UCF journalism student who was tragically killed in 2014. Read more
Presidential Doctoral Fellowship  
UCF chemistry doctoral student Riley Gentry is is one of eight recipients of the Presidential Doctoral Fellowship award from the College of Graduate Studies.  Read more

Outstanding Sociology AlumKnight 
UCF sociology alumna Dr.  Mónica Méndez, '02, '08, was awarded the College of Sciences Outstanding AlumKnight Award from the Department of Sociology. Dr.  Méndez currently serves as the CEO of Dress for Success Pittsburgh, an organization that focuses on empowering women through financial independence.  Read more
