Love In Moreno Valley Screening
June 18th at 7PM
James Bridges Theater, TFT

From Filmmaker Steven Huffaker (MFA '14):

Hello fellow UCLA alumni,

I shot a feature-film for my UCLA thesis and wanted to invite you to attend.

I’m very proud of the film. Love in Moreno Valley is a late 90’s, coming-of-age comedy/drama about two best friends with absent parents who seek influence and romance within their Inland Empire, Christian high school.

We have a great cast of cult comedy actors like John Ennis (Twin Peaks, Mr. Show, Zodiac), Charlie Sanders (writer Key and Peele), & Brendon Small (writer/actor Adult Swim's Metalocalypse).

The trailer.

The screening is at James Bridges theater on June 18th at 7pm.

RSVP here: http://evite.me/HZb9QKubDK

I think the screening will be a good time and I hope to see you there!

"Terrific, turbulent…fresh currents of dramatic electricity." —Charles Isherwood, The New York Times

"Ayad Akhtar’s spiky drama…grapples with a subject as rich in dramatic possibility as it is juicy fodder for Sunday morning talk shows." —Peter Marks, The Washington Post

"Unfolds with speed, energy, and crackling wit." —Marilyn Stasio, Variety

Identity, heritage, and passion collide in this riveting exploration of the stories we tell our friends, the secrets we tell our lovers, and the lies we tell ourselves to find our place in the American Dream. Ayad Akhtar’s 2013 Pulitzer Prize-winning play Disgraced—a potently funny tale of big-city aspiration and cultural assimilation—dares to face the truth hiding just below the deception.

Playwright Ayad Akhtar has said, “People walk away from this play moved, and confused, and angry.” Disgraced is a work that asks difficult, divisive questions about identity, prejudice, and what it means to be Muslim in America today—and offers no easy answers. We hope that by bringing people together for this production at the Mark Taper Forum, we are creating a welcoming and inclusive space for these emotions to be evoked and for these questions to be discussed by our community. Respectful, informed conversations about who we are and what we believe are crucial now more than ever.
