In fall 2016, the Black List will distribute up to $15K to each of three screenwriters (one feature writer, two writers of episodic pilots) for the purpose of supporting those writers for six months as they work on future feature screenplays and/or teleplays. Writers will retain all rights to the work written with the support of this fellowship.

REDC is Looking for Filmmakers for Video Series

Reasons Eating Disorder Center (Los Angeles, CA) is looking to contract with someone for video shooting and editing for a series of short videos. We are interested in a storytelling focus with an eye to the human experience of our staff and alumni to bring the program to life and provide hope for those struggling with an eating disorder and the loved ones who support them.

We would like these videos to used on our website and social media pages. We are also the founding sponsor of a campaign called The Marginalized Voices Project with the National Eating Disorder Association and some of the video content will focus on that project which aims to change the media portrayal of who has an eating disorder in order to expand early detection and treatment options for diverse populations.

If you are interested in helping us tell our story and the stories of the people we treat, please contact Nikki Rollo, PhD, National Director for Program Development at nikki.rollo@Uhsinc.com

Opportunity for Alumni to Teach On-Camera Acting Classes  (Los Angeles)

I really feel that this conservatory is set up more like a University program and not like acting workshops. The classes are either six month or one-year commitments. So finding the right teaching candidates that are both well versed in the aspects of on-camera acting as well as the dedication it takes to learn that craft makes this a special type of job.

Gary Spatz’s “The Playground”, A Young Actor’s Conservatory is an on-camara acting training ground for young actors in Los Angeles and Orange County aged six to eighteen. The classes are offered Saturday and Sunday. We have around six hundred students. I am looking to interview candidates with solid educational training in on-camera acting (either as an actor or behind the scenes) that also possess a passion and some experience teaching these skills to children, preteens and teens.

I am interviewing for paid part-time positions for Primary Acting Teacher, Substitute Primary Acting Teacher, Studio Assistants and Substitute Studio Assistants. For Studio Assistants (which is also a training ground for newer teachers to move toward becoming Primary Acting Teachers) there should be an overall ease with working with youth as well as a confidence working with cameras, lights and technical equipment.

Anyone interested in interviewing can email me at GaylaG@theplayground.com. They can send me a P/R, acting or technical resume, teaching resume and a short video of themselves talking about why acting and teaching is a passion.

I will review all enquiries.

Currently I am looking for staff at our Los Angeles location.

Here is our website: www.theplayground.com.

Monterey Peninsula College Seeks Theatre Arts Instructor

Monterey Peninsula College is seeking applicants for a full-time temporary non-tenure track instructor in Theatre Arts to teach Theatre Arts classes as well as direct and produce a series of plays for the season. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching a range of Theatre Arts classes. This will include teaching a core of intermediate and advanced acting and directing classes, Introduction to Theatre, and Film Appreciation.  In addition, the successful candidate should be able to teach Voice/Oral Interpretation, Acting for the Camera, and other Theatre Arts courses. The successful candidate will be expected to direct and produce a main stage production in fall 2016 and spring 2017 from a variety of genres including (but not limited to) classical/verse; musical, contemporary, comedy or drama.

"Terrific, turbulent…fresh currents of dramatic electricity." —Charles Isherwood, The New York Times

"Ayad Akhtar’s spiky drama…grapples with a subject as rich in dramatic possibility as it is juicy fodder for Sunday morning talk shows." —Peter Marks, The Washington Post

"Unfolds with speed, energy, and crackling wit." —Marilyn Stasio, Variety

Identity, heritage, and passion collide in this riveting exploration of the stories we tell our friends, the secrets we tell our lovers, and the lies we tell ourselves to find our place in the American Dream. Ayad Akhtar’s 2013 Pulitzer Prize-winning play Disgraced—a potently funny tale of big-city aspiration and cultural assimilation—dares to face the truth hiding just below the deception.

Playwright Ayad Akhtar has said, “People walk away from this play moved, and confused, and angry.” Disgraced is a work that asks difficult, divisive questions about identity, prejudice, and what it means to be Muslim in America today—and offers no easy answers. We hope that by bringing people together for this production at the Mark Taper Forum, we are creating a welcoming and inclusive space for these emotions to be evoked and for these questions to be discussed by our community. Respectful, informed conversations about who we are and what we believe are crucial now more than ever.
