Health Sciences Academy at
Monroe Middle
UCPS is excited to introduce the new Health Sciences Academy at Monroe Middle! 

The academy, which  is the result of a partnership between UCPS and Carolinas HealthCare System, will offer challenging coursework to help prepare students for college and careers in the medical field.

Sixth-grade students will participate in integrated neuroscience/health science and medical Spanish courses. All students will have the opportunity to participate in internships, externships and career-building activities related to the health care and medical field.

Also, Carolinas HealthCare System will provide a full-time science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) specialist to be a liaison between the school and hospital.

Students do not have to apply for the academy, and all students enrolled at Monroe Middle will take courses in the health sciences pathway.

Naviance helps students jumpstart their future

Thanks to Naviance, a college and career readiness software, UCPS middle and high school students will soon be able to get a head start on planning for their future. 

Provided at no cost to UCPS families, the software will help students identify their strengths, explore career interests and create education plans.

The Student Realignment Citizens Advisory Committee provides feedback and input as the Board of Education conducts research for a potential student realignment plan.

UCPS is continuing its partnership with WSOC by participating in the annual School Tools drive.

You can help support our local students by dropping off your donations at any one of our 19 locations around Union County or by leaving a bag of donations in your mailbox on A ug. 19 for School Tools Postal Collection Day.
