National School Lunch Week
Did you know that Union County Public Schools (UCPS) buys its produce from North Carolina farmers? Or that a number of healthy, new recipes are being introduced in schools throughout the school year, starting with the recently released strawberry and blueberry yogurt parfait?

National School Lunch Week is Oct. 9 - 13, and we're celebrating the impact our school lunches play in securing a healthier new generation of students.

Studies have shown that providing students with access to healthy and nutritionally balanced meals not only helps them focus better in class but also plays an important role in encouraging lifelong healthy eating habits. That's why we encourage our students to try new foods by serving them atypical delicious produce, providing samples of dishes on our menu, and bringing in new food products for their opinions.

From local food from farmers to the behind-the-scenes teamwork that makes every single tray possible, our dedicated staff knows that the 4 million healthy meals served to UCPS students each year has a positive impact both in and out of the classroom.
