2015 Data - Poverty in Johnson County, KS 

In 2015, one in 19 people, or 30,400 county residents, lived below the federal poverty line according to data recently released by the U.S. Census Bureau (example:  2016 Federal Poverty Guidelines for a family of three is $20,090).  In Johnson County, the poverty rate was 5.3%, a decrease from the 6.5% rate in 2014.  However, the 2015 rate is still over the 4.2% rate in 2007, before the Great Recession began.  

The Johnson County trend mirrors state and national trends; all of which showed a statistical decrease in the poverty rate.  The U.S. poverty rate in 2015 was 14.7 % and Kansas 13.0%.
