UFTI Affiliate Concludes Research on Impedance-Based Detection of Corrosion in Post-Tensioned Cables
University of Florida researchers explored the use of indirect impedance as a method of corrosion detection on post-tensioned cables. UFTI affiliate Mark Orazem, Ph.D., was the principal investigator on the project. The project included fundamental studies on corrosion rates and oxide film thickness for ASRM A416 steel in simulated pore solutions and in grout. Practical studies determined how indirect impedance may be employed in field applications.

Technology Transfer

The UFTI's Transportation Technology Transfer (T2) Center is hosting a webinar on an Intersection Control Evaluation (ICE) manual to evaluate traditional roadway intersection types that have been identified for capacity and/or traffic control improvements. This manual was developed by the Florida Department of Transportation and includes state-of-the-art tools to select and rank the most suitable alternative intersection design-based predictive safety and efficient traffic operations.

Presenter:  Alan El-Urfali, P.E.
FDOT State Traffic Services Program Engineer

UTCCallforAbstracts  Registration Open for the 2017 UTC Conference
The UFTI's STRIDE Center will be hosting this year's University Transportation Centers (UTC) Conference for the Southeastern Region, November 16-17, 2017, at the UF campus.  The conference is  FREE  and open to faculty, students, practitioners, and public agencies in the Southeast.

We had an overwhelming response to the abstract submission, receiving more than 60 posters and 50 presentations. As a result of the large amount of submissions, we plan to add two more  concurrent sessions to the program.

Visit the  conference page to register, to view the program, and to make your hotel reservations. Registration deadline is October 23, 2017.
