UFTI Affiliate Evaluates Asphalt Pavement Interface Conditions for Enhanced Bond Performance
Dr. Reynaldo Roque, a professor from the University of Florida Department of Civil & Coastal Engineering, along with his research team, conducted a study to understand interface debonding and near-surface longitudinal cracking in the wheel path of asphalt pavements. Asphalt pavement is composed of layers that are held together by a tack coat, which in Florida is typically an asphalt emulsion. [Read more]

Using DSRC to Enhance Signal Control: Testing at FDOT's TERL Facility
On May 24-25, 2017, the National Science Foundation (NSF) and the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) funded project team AVIAN to test new algorithms that were developed to optimize connected and highly automated vehicle trajectories when approaching a signal. UFTI Hosts Two Interns from the UF SURF Program This year, the University of Florida launched Summer Undergraduate Research at Florida (SURF), which is a 10-week program that provides students, excelling in their studies at their home institutions, with the opportunity to work with premier faculty at UF on active research projects. Free Workshop on Mobility Plans and Fees in Florida
Local governments in Florida are exploring
Mobility Plans and Mobility Fees as an alternative to concurrency and road impact fees and exploring creative ways to provide mobility through means other than adding road capacity. This webinar will help you learn how 21st Century approaches that accommodate transit, walking and bicycling are being integrated into Mobility Plans and how Mobility Fees can be used to assist with funding these alternative approaches to Mobility.

UFTI Hires Testbed Manager
Clark Letter, who recently completed his Ph.D. in transportation engineering from UF, has accepted a position as the UF Testbed manager for the UFTI. The UF Testbed will utilize the UF campus and surrounding neighborhoods to test connected and autonomous vehicles and devices that support them. Letter will coordinate all efforts related to planning and implementation of the advanced technologies testbed. [Read more]
