UFTIOffersWorkshop UFTI Offers Workshop on DSRC and Other Transportation Communication Options

The University of Florida Transportation Institute held a workshop on DSRC and other communication options for transportation  connectivity on May 3, 2017. UFTI affiliate Dr. Chris Ferraro of the Department of Civil & Coastal Engineering, conducted a pilot project to assess the viability of using waste-to-energy bottom ash as a partial aggregate replacement in concrete pavement. To read the article,   [ click here ].

UFTI Participates in FDOT Research Program Peer Exchange UFTIParticipatesPeerExchange


The UFTI participated in a peer exchange in Tallahassee, Fla., April 25-27, which provided a review of research, development and technology programs at various state departments of transportation. Dr. Scott Washburn will be hosting a webinar on the sixth edition of the Highway Capacity Manual (HCM) on July 13, 2017. The webinar will be  hosted from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., and will provide a general introduction to the HCM 6th edition, as well as highlight changes relative to the 5th edition of the HCM.  For specific topics or to register, [ click here ].

Researchers developed a decision support tool, referred to as the School Transportation Cost Calculator, to estimate the public and private transport costs of potential school sites.The results of two STRIDE Center funded projects will be presented at the workshops. The UFTI's Transportation Technology Transfer (T2) Center is co-hosting two free STRIDE-funded school siting workshops on June 15 and 16, 2017.

The UFTI's STRIDE Center will be hosting this year's University Transportation Centers (UTC) Conference for the Southeastern Region, November 16-17, 2017, at the UF campus. T he conference is FREE and open to faculty, students, practitioners and public agencies in the southeast. Students who present posters and papers will have the opportunity to compete for a 1st, 2nd and 3rd place prize worth $500, $250 and $100, respectively.
