Russell's Ritings...

Historians tell us that average life cycle of a nation is 200 years.  America is now 241 years old.  Have we had our day?  According to historians a nation is born, grows, matures, and reaches its apex.  Then it declines, deteriorates, and dies!  Is that what we expect to happen?  I want to think NO!  I want my grandson (and any children and grandchildren he might have) to always live under the red, white, and blue.

We need to remember God has showered us with the blessings of liberty and freedom.  On the Liberty Bell itself is inscribed the words from Leviticus, "Proclaim liberty throughout the land."  We have the freedom of opportunity.  We can say to our children, "Go to it - be all you want to be."  We have the freedom of speech.  We have the freedom of the press.  We have the freedom of RELIGION!  In over 50 years of preaching every week no one has ever told me what to preach!
There has never been a policeman in a congregation to censor a sermon.  It's too bad some interpret freedom OF religion as being freedom FROM religion.

God has given us so many blessings.  We remember His blessings this weekend on Memorial Day.  A few weeks back I stood on Omaha Beach in France, one of the moving experiences of my lifetime.  I remember thinking every step I took, "A brave young American died here - for me!"  I was moved to tears.  And I'm thankful and proud to be an American.

I hope you will recognize your freedom of religion this week by being in worship.  Our sermon this week is, "Dancing With The One Who Brung You."
And the folks are friendly,

Russell
