PALM SUNDAY ~ 6th Sunday in Lent

Russell's Ritings....

Count Zinzendorf, a Moravian and a friend of John Wesley, once wandered into an art gallery. In the gallery was hanging a painting, "Ecce Home", by Sternberg. Underneath the painting were two lines in Latin,

"hoc feci pro te;

quid facid pro me?"

Those phrases are translated, "This is what I did for you; what have you done for me?" Zinzendorf said afterwards, "I have but one passion, and that is Jesus."

What is YOUR passion? As we come to the end of the Lenten season our focus should be on Jesus, and Jesus alone. We have the opportunity to celebrate the salvation event at UMCE this Sunday, Palm Sunday, with two worship services. At 8:30 I am preaching a sermon from Luke 22:61, "When the Lord Looks at You" and at 10:30 our choir will be presenting the Cantata, "Walk Worthy" by Joseph Martin. Come and bring a friend!

From the heart,

Russell

GOD'S GREEN EARTH

DID YOU KNOW?

On Wednesdays, 10-12 kids, Kindergarten-Grade 5, dash from school to church for their study of "God's Green Earth" from 4:00-5:00 pm. Their devotional book is focused on what the Bible says about God's creation and how children can be good stewards of our planet.

In between a reflection time with discussion, and fun games, is a creative activity. Kids use a range of materials to show their love for God's Green Earth. Perhaps you have noticed their art work in the Fellowship Hall. A special project has involved the Blessing Bags. The children made notes of encouragement for each bag before Christmas; now they are collecting money for things that need to be purchased for the bags by doing chores.

As the children learn how to care for creation they will also learn more about God's love for them. Feel free to talk to the "God's Green Earth" kids about what they are learning.

LENTEN CONCERT SERIES

It is our tradition at UMCE that during the Lenten season we host a series of 30-minute concerts featuring Easter/Lenten music. Then afterward a light lunch is served and there is no charge. So t ake a break from your busy day and enjoy some beautiful music and a delicious lunch. Here is information on the last concert in this year's Lenten Concert Series:
