UN-Answered Prayer! 6/24/15 Luke 9:54 (KJV)
54 And when his disciples James and John saw this, they said, Lord, wilt thou that we command fire to come down from heaven, and consume them, even as Elias did? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hKqZjgIfxe0 As I drove back from taking my sweet grand daughter to the doctor, she spotted a school bus and asked me: "Zada, (Jewish for grandfather), didn't you used to be a school bus driver?" THEN and THERE I THANKED GOD for UN-answered PRAYER!!!!! The answer to her question was YES and NO-THANK GOD. I "trained" to become a school bus driver, but THANK GOD I failed miserably!!! I NEVER did get comfortable driving that HUGE vehicle, and failed all the tests-both physical and medical. This AFTER learning that I NEEDED to purchase an individual insurance policy to protect me from any future law suit from a child and/or parent of a child. I was told, "It is not a matter of IF you get sued, it is a matter of WHEN!!!" I THANK GOD FOR UNANSWERED PRAYER!!! In the above Scripture the aptly named "SONS OF THUNDER," James and John desired Jesus to "command fire to come down from Heaven and consume them! WHY? They and their Lord and Master Jesus were rudely denied access to an UN-named Samaritan village. Of course, Jesus did NOT answer their PRAYER!!! Too often, WE Christians behave as children! We selfishly DEMAND "OUR WAY!" Some teachers and Pastors even go so far to WRONGLY pull out of context these Words: Isaiah 45:11 (KJV)
11 Thus saith the LORD, the Holy One of Israel, and his Maker, Ask me of things to come concerning my sons, and concerning the work of my hands command ye me. They, I believe errant, teach and believe that WE, as sons and daughters of the Most High God, have the "authority and power" to actually COMMAND God!!?? "CONCERNING THE WORK OF MY HANDS COMMAND YE ME!" I DON'T THINK SO!!!!!???? May WE learn well the lesson of the Children of Israel: Psalm 106:15 (KJV)
15 And he gave them their request; but sent leanness into their soul. Like real children, the Israelite s were NEVER satisfied with God's PRO-vision!!! They had an "all you can eat bar" called Manna, and AT FIRST, it tasted like Honey: Exodus 16:31 (KJV)
31 And the house of Israel called the name thereof Manna: and it was like coriander seed, white; and the taste of it was like wafers made with honey. Then they desired water and graciously God AGAIN PRO-vided: Exodus 17:6 (KJV)
6 Behold, I will stand before thee there upon the rock in Horeb; and thou shalt smite the rock, and there shall come water out of it, that the people may drink. And Moses did so in the sight of the elders of Israel. But even that did not satisfy them and they now wanted meat!! Numbers 11:33 (KJV)
33 And while the flesh was yet between their teeth, ere it was chewed, the wrath of the LORD was kindled against the people, and the LORD smote the people with a very great plague. So MUCH meat it made them SICK! Psalm 106:15 (KJV)
15 And he gave them their request; but sent leanness into their soul. SOMETIMES TIS BEST TO THANK GOD FOR UNANSWERED PRAYER!!! Today, take a moment and think back on some "FOOLISH" PRAYERS God loved you enough NOT to answer!! As my grand daughter and I pulled up beside the school bus filled with kids, I noted that ALL the windows were open!!! THANK GOD I was NOT driving a school bus-a NON air conditioned school bus! Have YOU ever suffered through a Georgia summer!!?? SOMETIMES I THANK GOD FOR UNANSWERED PRAYER! AMEN!!??
